3DS Max. It looked like crap in the preview renders but the final one turned out well IMO.

I thought so, since neither Poser or D|S can render lighting like this.

A figure in a DA t-shirt. Nice touch! I don't think I've seen it before. What happened with her arms, though?

operatorx11 In reply to iRobathon [2010-12-12 04:39:19 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean, what happen to the arms.
That's how all Daz studio/Poser characters look.
Surly you've seen this before.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

iRobathon In reply to operatorx11 [2010-12-12 06:06:30 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I've seen this before, but it's not how all DAZ Studio/Poser figures look.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

operatorx11 In reply to iRobathon [2010-12-13 06:27:45 +0000 UTC]

About 99% of the 3D models on Deviant Art that I've seen are done in Poser/Daz Studio, and
unless your able to one, put clothes on the character, put them in a none deforming pose, or shoot the models from the correct angle to hide the deformation, they all look just like this.
I challenge you to show me otherwise.
The quick fix to this problem would be to simply export these models build a custom
skeleton, and actually paint your own weight maps, and while your at it layout some uvs, but you see the problem is that people have relied so heavily on these character creation programs
that no bothered to actually learn 3D.

You said in the previous comment, and I quote, "That's how all Daz studio/Poser characters look." It's that statement to which I replied - the keyword being "all". Not all characters done in Poser, or DAZ Studio, turn out with such deformities. You, yourself, offered workarounds for the issue. Now if you're seeking to bait me into some kind of debate about what is or isn't art, or express some issue you have with people who use these programs, I'm simply not interested.

operatorx11 In reply to iRobathon [2010-12-13 07:39:44 +0000 UTC]

Now you take the high road, now you are no longer interested in debate.
However do you recall your original comment, I believe it went something like
this "...what's up with those arms" Sir we are both 3D artist, at different levels, but
3D artist.I know that you knew exactly what was up with those arms, and it was you
sir, who were attempting to instigate some kind of debate or argument with that artist.
One of the most important rules when dealing with people is to never offer unsolicited
advice or opinions, you where the first to break this rule by asking a question you clearly knew
the answer to.
Do I have an issue with poser/Daz studio artist, I believe I have already showed my hand considering this matter. However I have never or will ever negatively critique someone else's work unless asked to do so personally or to defend my own work.( which I been doing allot of lately).

iRobathon In reply to operatorx11 [2010-12-13 08:17:33 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure what about that question warrants a debate. His previous renders lacked the noted deformities and I inquired as to why they were present here, then he responded above with an explanation. With but one additional comment from me, the matter was closed entirely. So, I didn't break some kind of rule, nor did I have the answer to my question. In that case, I wouldn't have asked it in the first place. Additionally, I wouldn't start some kind of argument with this artist. I have the utmost respect for him. On that note, I'm going to cease responding now, because I no longer want to flood his comments with this pointless banter.

CUBiKO In reply to iRobathon [2010-12-12 10:14:21 +0000 UTC]

Sadly it's just a flaw in the Vicky character that I wasn't able to correct. I'm sorry though, this render is not really representative for my work as it's only a quick put-together of a fun idea I had last night and I haven't used my usual work-flow with it. I rarely use limbs in positions that reveal those flaws - for this exact reason.

iRobathon In reply to CUBiKO [2010-12-12 12:10:34 +0000 UTC]

Believe me, I know it's not a representation. I haven't seen a lot of renders from you, but I've seen enough to know what you're capable of. Regardless, the idea is fantastic! I like it.
