Description
Pitch black and cold.  I wake up alone again.
Alone in my bed but not alone in this room, never alone here.
I sense her just beyond my vision, deep in the shadows where my eyes can't see.
I hear her breathing, forced labored breaths rattling in the back of my mind.
I smell her skin, salty and pungent, decomposing rose petals.
In the borders of my peripheral vision I capture a flicker of movement.
Never in sight, always hidden.
I turn to try and catch the flicker but my head pivots like I was submerged in a thick oil.
She continues to haunt me.  A distant giggle ripples through the darkness.
The giggle is maddened, is psychotic, is deranged and is unusually comforting.
I want to scream.  I can't scream.
Weight on my chest won't allow me to draw in air.  A suffocating, crushing weight.
I want to breathe.  I can't breathe.
My fingers claw at my throat, my mouth, trying to rip away the unknown force stealing my air.
I'm dying.  She's killing me.  I want to stop her.  I can't stop her.
I need air.
The lack of oxygen carries me back into a deep unconsciousness.
Death creeps over me, a quiet pretty death that nullifies her childish laughter.
In death I smile.
