Discovered by the Galactic Federation for Peace on the planet Nurn as their wild-life predators had been turned into docile blobs, the one-gendered Nureme are able to live in extreme environments. Their ooze exterior functions as conversion for both digestion and respiration, absorbing any atmospheric gasses to extract necessary molecules while exterior edible solids and liquids are converted into nutrients.

Continuing to attack a Nureme in close quarters does not defeat them. The same sludge heals their wounds at an accelerated rate as lacerated separation from themselves is how they reproduce. Fired projectiles and expulsions from laser weapons are only absorbed into the nutrient mass. Nuremes' severed parts will regrow into an entire entity while any violent creatures entering within their space soon become like them. As no Nureme ever lashes out, the only way to defeat one is to leave them alone. They will, however, seek to hug acts of aggression for assimilation.

The ooze is sentient and an extension of themselves. Friendly interactions by another species does not pose the threat of being converted or even slimed. Only harmful intent causes one to become surrounded by the same mass. They are considered by the GFP to be a last resort against extremely violent life forms. All who attack will be turned into blob-surrounded passive beings.

Revealed through extensive research to have been a former species taken by the blob, Sitmacs keep them in high-security cells as potential but useful threats. Nuremes are never bothered. Their minds are in a constant state of tranquility.
