that is gorgeous. i'm just wondering did you teach yourself to make corsets? or did you take a fashion class or something?

i can only dream of making my own corsets, but i can hardly sew in general

cybergeisha In reply to AllieKitten [2006-03-06 09:27:08 +0000 UTC]

This is another lace overlay, the lace is the crazy polka stuff I'm making some more of these in black white and lilac.. they will rock

Yeah I work with latex sometimes, I've only got red in at the moment and it's only dress weight but I'm ordering some soon hopefully thick enough for corsets and i need a new shiny dress lol

Yeah but at the moment I'm not doing anything major until I've got a stock and supply of materials for the shop.. I'm trying to get the corsets and other clothes to pay for my next latex order basically it might be some time..

I've got a feeling that maybe I'm advertising my services a little prematurely?

But I'm trying to push things forward..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cybergeisha In reply to Jackieovla [2005-08-17 08:52:22 +0000 UTC]

Hello! thanks for looking..

I do various boning, I've got a ton more pictures to upload of different types of corsets I've made (I have some in my scraps too!)

The fabric in this corset is black coutil (discount in a upholstry shop) and with a sheer polka polka mesh fabric with reflective dots on it.. some came off when I was sewing and PVC boning and trim about a week worth of sewing...

I love your clothes they are great, I've modified a few things I'll post the pictures when I get time

wow-ness! did you draft the pattern yourself? or modify one that you bought?
i've been trying to make a corset for ages, but i'm pattern-drafting inept.

hmmm, awesome work anyways. You deserve some hugs or something <3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cybergeisha In reply to jehanne [2005-06-10 08:59:07 +0000 UTC]

I'm sure i put something in my description about that.. maybe I didn't??

I *created* the corset from scratch.. I certainly wouldn't post a corset I made from a brought pattern cos really that isn't creating, it is re-creating something from someone elses mind... I am included in various galleries on the net for making historical re-creations but I don't post those pictures here..

There is a ton of info in books and online on how to make corsets.. I'm self taught, learning every step of the way.. but I start with an idea, draw a sketch, daft cut and create.. I have 168 designs drawn out of my catalouge (1680)..just so little time to make them..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jehanne In reply to cybergeisha [2005-06-14 22:48:10 +0000 UTC]

That's what I thought. Anyway, it's possible to look at a basic pattern and modify it for any purpose. Not that you'd have it up here, you're right. I'm sticking with making basic patternbook corsets at the moment, but eventually I'll learn.

good luck with finding the time for sewing goodness of fun ^_^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cybergeisha In reply to jehanne [2005-06-20 08:45:02 +0000 UTC]

ofcourse it's possible to just use a *basic* pattern and modify it, although I find that takes up a LOT of time, rather than the max of 30mins or so it takes me to just make a new pattern each time...

but at the end of the day a *basic* pattern for corsets doesn't really exisit if you think about it. well maybe victorian corsets..(then you'd just need to modify length and bust, waist, hip measurments) but if you wanted a straight lined corset then you'd need to draft from scratch..same with the more medieval looking corsets, with only 3 pattern pieces etc etc..

*pulls hair out* there is SO much to do!!!*

cybergeisha In reply to DeathInWords [2005-06-06 15:59:31 +0000 UTC]

for the lining???.. it depends on the piece i'm making.. clothes then just plain old dress lining, corsets varies from dress lining for silk, to cotton for other synthetic fabrics like PVC, nothing for leather or latex
