Description
I drew Dr. Cephalon in an outfit she might wear late into in Volume 2 of The Baker's Dozen. Her outfit is a whole costume reference to Ki, the heroine from 's webcomic, FunLand, since the two look alike, and because FunLand as of when I write this takes place in a desert, just like Volume 2. However, Ki has a much different weapon set than Dianne. I have no idea why she'll be cosplaying, but I'm sure I can come up with a good reason soon enough.Oh, and if you've noticed the quality of my artwork going downhill today, that's because I'm using GIMP, which I'm still figuring out.

She sure is.
Well, she is the one in charge of the dig, so she probably knows of something important there. The whole plot of Volume 2 is searching for some sort of artifacts that would benefit the Resistance. That grenade launcher she carries isn't just for show, so it's likely that her dig team isn't the only ones after the artifacts.

They sure are. And if they're technology left behind by the precursor race, they could be used to reverse-engineer some powerful weapons.

Sure is. Dillon's Volume 2 gun is reverse-engineered from some ancient technology that had already been found beforehand. It's basically a combination of a revolver and a submachine gun, and it fires hard light.

Still, Dr. C's grenade launcher (see above) is probably the most deadly weapon, despite its age. She can also use its bayonet in close quarters.

I wanted her to look just a bit more like Ki. So I went ahead with her ditching the glasses when she wears this outfit. What do you think?

She might, she might not be. She's fine with wearing sunglasses instead while lounging on the sandcrawler's deck and chewing out Allie for taking hipster selfies. And later (spoilers), she can see without them well enough to dance.

I wonder, too. Did she get them knocked off? Did she break them? (Not likely, since they're specialized safety glasses.) Did she lose a bet with Captain Tungsten and Allie? Is she wearing contacts? Did she just forget to put them on in the morning? Maybe she just got out of the shower? Nobody knows yet. But I drew her without them here so she'd resemble Ki more. I'll probably have a good reason soon enough.

Well, maybe she can. Near the beginning of Volume 2, she wears sunglasses instead of glasses while conducting the dig and when she's on the sandcrawler's main deck. And much, much later, she shows up to a victory party without them. Her eyesight is meant to be sort of bad, but definitely not Velma bad. The glasses aren't for decoration, though.

I hear ya! Well, maybe she needs them only for fine details and to improve her accuracy with the grenade launcher.
Try telling that to the hipsters, though. Allie sometimes wears fake glasses for fun, which Dr. C of course hates.

I mean, her aim improves when she's wearing them. The grenade launcher itself can be unreliable at times. It's still accurate enough that she can blow up, oh, say, an enemy car with it.
Don't worry, she doesn't get mad to the point of chasing after Allie with the bayonet.
