I can understand the surrealism in this piece, though it is likely that my understanding is different to yours. I almost feel as if that shape above the handle is a miniature person, about to leap off. Based on the title of "Jumping Off The Handle", it is as if the person is standing there to jump off into the waters below.
At the same time, the surrealism comes in with the fact that this is a door handle. There are strange markings and textures that add further depth to both the concept and the piece, so that it is not something simple, but rather complex.
On a technical standpoint, I feel the composition could be improved by placing the door handle to the right and lower, so that the person isn't placed so highly within the frame, if that makes sense. With the piece being so thin, there could be a crop to the top and bottom... though, I guess, the tall length of it emphasizes distance.
It's an interesting mixture of things overall, pieced together to convey a thought-provoking story.

Hello! This comment comes to you from the Project Comment "Give and get one comment, 7+ lines" gallery. I chose your piece because it intrigues me. I think it is the layers that fascinate me. I love to work with layers in my abstract paintings. I saw that you are working with doors and other interesting passageways. There are so many of them in the world. In fact, I just saw a piece that someone has done locally here photographing interesting doors and entryways around my city, then combining them into a poster. It was fun to try and identify where the door came from. Your door seems very much like a metal security door with a heavy steel lock in an abandoned building. It looks like someone has pried it open because the trim around the lock is damaged. The spray painting on the front lends to the old building feel. But then I looked harder and found the door transparent. My eyes see winter woods and snow, and even a part of a building in the background. Below the winter snow, my eyes are seeing what to me looks like crashing ocean waves and calm blue water. And finally, there's the little figure coming up out of the door lock, with arms thrown in the air. The longer you look, the more you see in this piece. I really like the manipulations and combinations of images. For me, the impression I keep getting is cold. Cold steel, cold woods, cold building in the distance, and cold water, yet with one small warm light source on the handle. Very nice artwork!!

Hello BlueMoonArt2000 ,
Thank you for your comment, these comments are really helpfull.
I have many works but usually get no comment about them,
so It is difficult for me to find out if people like my works and how they are recieved.
Also this will give me the chance to look at my own work with `new eyes´.
