Description This is part of the sketch of the commission for ~philosofish .

Redlines would be awesome, they're usually a lot more helpful than critiques to me.

Here's the ref I used for the worlf on the left--[link]

I cannot find the pose ref I used for the other. D:

redlines on that wing would be great, too.

Also, if you're going to critique. please write a quality critique. Just saying the leg looks funny does not help at all. -.-

I'd suggest that the next time you write a critique you actually try to help the artist and not just say 'omg this is so awesome' while giving the clearly unfinished piece a medicore rating.
Be specific about what you like in the pic and also say what you don't like, include HOW it can be improved. -The arists asked for a Redline, meaning that she is unsure of the anatiomy/proportions; That should promt you to write something about said anatomy.

There is nothing wrong in being new to something/being nice but you see, the critique feature is a place where you should be completely honest with the artists, that's all I said.
It still was a very nice comment of course.

If I were to critique anything, it would be the wings- if you are trying to be realistic, the wings should be much larger than that, and the feathers more spread at the tips. I've been practicing wings and can probably redline it if you'd like :] If you just added the wings for show, then any size you prefer is fine :]

The left(to us) paw on the right wolf looks a little bit wrong. I think the angle isn't right, you should turn it a little bit down. thats just my opinion and my english sucks so plz tell me if you don't understand..

serbea1217 [2011-01-25 15:20:07 +0000 UTC]

I think the front legs of the winged wolf should be a bit longer. The left one seems very short but it's very beautiful the drawing

xxleaftrailxx [2011-01-25 06:51:49 +0000 UTC]

I think the hindpaw (that is raised) on the wolf without the wings, looks tilted to far upward (the toes on it I mean). You usually don't get quite that veiw of the pawpads in that pose on that paw.
Otherwise this look absolutely amazing! Very beautifully done (even though its only a sketch). I hope that was a good enough critique ^^" I only wanted to point out the paw, otherwise I can't find any other flaws.

I think the wolf on the left's right leg looks too small, in general. But that's really all I could help you with >_< I don't know wolf anatomy too well.

van-gorm [2011-01-25 04:14:48 +0000 UTC]

It looks like the two wolves are supposed to be looking at each other? It's hard to tell without pupils. XD But with the angle of the wolf on our right, it looks like he's further ahead than the winged one. Yet the wolf on the right appears to be looking forward(towards the other wolf), while the winged wolf looks like it's looking back(towards the other wolf), if that makes sense?
I'd say move the wolf on the right back a little bit and/or make him a tad smaller so he looks slightly further away.
I'm not very good at perspective type stuff, so I could be completely off. XDD

THE LEG LOOKS FUNNY

.... i'd suggest moviing the left (my left, not it's left) from paw of the winged one more toward the chest, i think it's a bit too far to the side~

Unless they're for show only the wings should be bigger...

You are a very talented artist, I see improvement with everyone of your drawings, even if it is just a sketch. I'm sure it will come out beautifully. C:

Well, if you will still need it, I might try it tomorrow, also in some hours, to help you with the sketch. Right now I already am in bed, so no drawing anymore for today.
I see some mistakes already, but as you say, lines help more than critique. And constructive critique is rare to find.

My anatomy is fail so I think it wouldn't help much if I redlined~
However, this is quite beautiful. I can't wait to see the finished result. I love the composition! And the overall feel of it

SterlingKato [2011-01-25 03:04:33 +0000 UTC]

The only thing I'd suggest is lengthen the front legs on the winged wolf just a tad ^^ because they seem a bit too short; even for foreshortening
I'm not too familiar with either pose, but I can try and help
Don't expect much though since I'm honestly so rusty with certain things I may goof it up more in the red line. But, for you, I try! :3

You're welcome. I shall see if I can help with a redline (which may actually be blue mind you) but I may fail as well. However, it's worth it to at least TRY and help out a friend :3

A redline is where you go over someone's sketch and correct mistakes they're made. Here's one I did a while back: [link]
