I've been a fan of Naomi Novik's Temeraire series for a while now. One of my favorite parts of the series are the different breeds of dragons and I've recently started doodling some of them.

this fellow here is one of the essential British breeds, a longwing. Longwings are supposed to be blue with white and black wings tipped in orange. Probably their most distinctive trait is the bone spurs on their jaws from which they can spit acid.

I was tinkering with just how to draw those bone spurs and this is what I came up with. I also extended the patterns and spines through the design for a more uniform look even though this isn't mentioned in the book. Because they're midweights and can rely on acid instead of brute strength I made it lean in build.
