Description

After visiting the world famous Itsukushima Shrine I also climbed Mount Misen, the highest spot of Miyajima with an altitude of 535m. The whole island is part of the Setonaikai National Park. The greenery is part of a primeval forest and the water on the left side is the Seto Inland Sea. The photo was taken from a viewing plattform on the summit of Mt. Misen, showing parts of the Itsukushuma Shrine, Hokokujinjahonden and the island part of Hatsukaichi (formerly Miyajima Town).

I climed the mountain on one of the hottest days of 2014 in Japan and thought I was on the verge to dying of thirst. So prepare yourself... its a very nice spot you should not miss. There is a vending machine right beside the Kiezu-no Reikado, so at least take some money with you... you will need it in summer

Thats a pity, but on the other hand it gives you a good reason to go there again

Miyajima is really a special place. It's almost like a timetravel and has the same vibes as e.g. Gion in Kyoto.

I could imagine and some way it reminds me if,   like for example if somebody  when to Gettysburg the battlefield itself and the time periods that people were in, it is similar to that of what you're saying to me.
