There are two filmed recordings of the musical that appeared on DVD before Tim Burton's film. The first is a film of the original stage presentation from the 80s with Angela Lansbery. I saw this production twice. One of the finest things I've ever seen live. The second is a film of a symphonic rendition with Patti Lupone. It is Sweeney In Concert. Both DVDs are excellent but they are miles away from the Burton film and really for people who love musical theater and Sondheim's music. You can find the DVDs on Amazon.

The originial musical was pretty good, and tim burton's film stuck good to the original script and songs, and there was also another movie of sweeney todd that was released in 2006 that i found on itunes.

Haha. I haven't seen the other movie, only a clip, and I think in the other one they're trying to focus on making it more of a horror than a musical.
