Description This is page 2 of a short war story collaboration between (story and script) and myself.

Big thanks to for working with me on this. I plan to work on the other 3-4 pages in between my other 'assignments' as I get time.

Amazing page!!! Your style of drawing reminds me Robert Crumb.

It's very nice to know that! I'm a big fan of Crumb and I've noticed a resemblance of your style of drawing with his work!

Yep yep, except for the raindrops, that's a micron pen & a ruler.

I love the lush lines of a brush, plus it's faster for me than a dip pen... tried that for a while about 15 years ago, and pages took forever!

Thank you mucho, darlin'!

That's the most convincing inked reflection I've ever seen. And you're a master of water! Man, I hate drawing water. You make it look easy!

I can imagine. I couldn't resist doing a page of "Eisnerspritz" in my comic but it never got into this much awesome detail!

dalgoda7 In reply to RodgerHodger [2012-12-23 15:49:08 +0000 UTC]

Kinda yeah, but I've found with stuff like rain, ruins in the background, etc - once you establish a visual formula that works for you, it's easy to replicate - it's the figures that took me the most time on this one.

thanks!

Really splendid work, sir! Rain is by far the biggest bitch to get right, and you knocked it out of the park here!

Bravo!

Thanks, Curt! I'd much rather draw rain & mud & ruins than say, the inside of a spaceship with all those straight edges.

Holy Shit Chris! This gave me chills. Great work just doesn't suffice. For the love of God this is amazing. I just love all that detail, you made this world come to life. You took some story and made it amazing.

I think this is some of the most amazing art you have ever done. I am trying to be objective, but it just kicks all kinds of ass.

Panel 5 is actually my favorite on this page, if you can believe that. It was a difficult problem/scene to fit into one smallish panel, but I'm super happy with how it came out with all the little guys running around in the mud and rainfall.

LarryKingUndead In reply to dalgoda7 [2012-12-23 13:43:21 +0000 UTC]

That is one amazing panel. You really did just make this world come to life. You gave them all personality.

Thanks, Larry! Your story has been inspiring, I'm hoping I don't screw it up with too much rendering. Although that is kind of my M.O. I think this story has been some of my best panel work so far... some parts have been tough, like trying to get the puddles/ripples 'right', but I just now finished with those panels so I've probably been staring at them too much.

Keep following your heart, your artistic vision. It has led you to this point, which has exhibited amazingly detailed work, that just breaths life. You are doing great. Don't change anything on my account. Just do what feels right. I have all the confidence of the world in you. You can't screw it up at all.
