May be a bit of an old Article, but it's much appreciated to see it done, and that its still there
Will try to follow one of those steps
May i add is, to make this more effective, you have to at least do this everyday, otherwise the hype will be killed (I'm speaking from experience since i did it for a while but stopped due to some bad conditions going on, most importantly the Covid issue)
Thank you so much, and hope everyone stays safe

Thanks for your insight. It helps a lot.
The most helpful tool with core actually is the stats page and google analytics, imho. But I'm also a stats creep. xD
Well... thanks for sharing!

My problem is that I have a decent amount of watchers, but it looks like they don't look at my art or what I post in general! Sometimes I post journal entries where I ask them questions, but nobody responds... When I post art, I don't get a lot of views or favs and even worse, no comments. It looks like the people watching me aren't even using DeviantArt... I don't dare asking them a lot of things because I feel like everytime I'll ask it'll be the same: me talking to nobody.
For me the point of showing my art to people is getting feedback, knowing if they liked or disliked, what I could improve... I think it's not fair, people paying for the core membership are so advantaged! I can't afford to pay for this, and I'm sad because I can't use this precious help to get what I want the more: COMMENTS. In fact I don't care about likes, I just want people to tell me what they think.
Please, does someone know how to fix this? How to have people who ACTUALLY look at what I do? I really feel like my watchers just don't care about my work...

I'm in the exact same situation. I really want to know what people think about my art, but I get nothing.

Comments are hard to receive on the internet on any platform these days. It's mostly like/fave and run. People don't take time to type elaborate comments anymore.
If you want to head towards improvement, you're mostly on yourself. But good thing there's a lot of free courses and tutorials on the internet to teach yourself. I mean.. I got this far without any professional lessons. I guess that shows a lot is possible if you just put your mind to it and give it a bit of time.

Yeah I've never take any lessons too, I don't like it to be honest! I think it's better to work on your own, but it always feel good to get advices from other people

Wow! That´s an interesting novel! And an excellent guideline too!
Although I have NO social media experience whatsoever (never used Facebook or "you name it") apparently I still do something right.
I will use your tips well and try to generate more views, then upgrade to Core later this year.
Those interesting features and supporting materials make it a worthy Premium.
So far I´ve used a camera to shoot my coloring´s, but it may be better when I bring them to a copy shop for a professional scan.
I was doubting if that be the right solution, but I will try it now to improve the quality of my art.
Thank you so much for your help!

Your words are really inspiring and realistic. I just recently came back to deviantart and have been having trouble getting my views up but steadily, it's getting up. Thanks for this.

I have a question,
If I open a Commissions or host a Giveaway/Contest/Kiriban,
Can I post it as Journal Portal?
Because I found many people submit those event on Personal Journal.
And you said if we want our journal to be exposed for all of DeviantArt we can submit to Journal Portal.
Which should I submit those event to Personal Journal or Journal Portal?
Need your guide please. Thank you!

Which is strange, I get pageviews but there is no one in my visitor widget. It's my deviations that gets pageviews or it's fake people?

They might also be Invisible, and simply don't appear in the Visitor widget.

You probably don't remember me, but last we talked I only had 400 watchers (and like 15000 page views). About 3 months ago I started looking into your advice now i'm at 1300+ (50k pgviews). Just wanted to give a shoutout back to you, and thanks!

Its been pretty steady lol
I've been doing the same on Pixiv and it's been growing at a considerably faster rate as well to the point where I have three times the number of followers I do on dA lmao.

Really a wise list of suggestions. I mostly use instagram as a "social media" to promote my scribbles. But a thing I saw is this : if I don't have the time to draw every day (because of work , because of tiredness and normal issues in life) I loose followers . Example, i didn't doodled yesterday, I lost 5 followers. Firstly I felt a little discourage of this, because my phone doesn't support the deviantart app. But now it doesn't bother me anymore. I am on deviantart , as a drawer , since few months (but I knew the portal anyway). And seen from this side it's really like another world in which I am learning things, from the one I watch and the ones that are watching me.
Thank you for this "Noob-guide" DamaiMikaz

Instagram tends to fluctuate a lot more anyway. Or at least that's my experience
