Thank you, Stag Beetles are hard to come by these days. Rumour says they're an endangered species.
Only yesterday I saw another Stag Beetle, another male. And he was climbing the rose bush in the front garden, I saw something I never thought a Beetle could pull off. He opened his shell and wing, and took flight from an upside down position.

It's the males and males alone who get the antlers, and the males are larger then the females.
Look them up and see the differences between the genders.
