Excellent image. I must say though, the red does seem saturated with a lot of yellow. The yellow gives it an odd feel; I personally like a deep very rich red when it comes to roses. I tried Photoshoping it and I think I does look better as a deeper red. Continuing on the comment above, there should be a button with either "iris" or "f" or something along those lines next to it. Try pressing that button and turning your main dial or knob or what ever the main selection device is. I also am not familiar with the G6, I’ve used a G5 a few times but strictly use a 20D now, so take what I say with a grain of salt, hope it helps though. O, btw, a high ISO will produce very grainy images and low ISO will do just the opposite. Just a quick piece of information that may help produce some interestingly artistic images.

Well, I tried to. It didn't come out as well as I would have liked. But if you could post the yellow rose that would be awsome, I'll try to see if it comes out any better. Thanks.

Thankyou loads for the advice, will take another look at the controls, as I left the instruction manual at home, (I'm at uni now). Didn't want to loose it and I never normally read manuals but on this occasion kind of regretting it. The reason for the yellow is all the recent rose pics were either yellow, or orangy roses, my friends bought them! I've tried to make them all some shade of red as I agree with you entirely, deep red roses are gorgeous.

Could by any chance post the picture of the rose that is just yellow? I'd like to try something with it.

beautiful photo. the gradual blur from the center of the flower outward came out really well, and the deep contrast between the deep red petals and the black background really makes the photo stand out.
my only recommendations is, i dont know what iso the photo was taken in, or if it is just a limitation of the camera, but there is some noise in the picture. try shooting at a lower iso (if you have the option). otherwise, great photo!

Hey there thanks for comments, I have a canon G6, it was prob shot in 50 iso as i don't really change it. I am hopeless. I am just getting the hang of changing the one that's 1/200 etc, but I havn't figured out how to change the F value one, it's permanently stuck on F5. So if you have any idea how to change that please tell me. At the moment I'm all about experimentation and a good bit of luck!

hey really nice shot, i would only suggest making it smaller so the eye cant take it all in, in one frame
they colours are good as is the composition, good job
