I LOVE blackout poetry.. learned about it in my 20th century poetry class.. so many interesting ways of creating verse were explored then.

Blackout poetry is so much fun and a great stress reliever! I volunteer at my old high school and often do a blackout poetry session. I'll have to look up some more historical information on it to share with them next time!

I really must. I cannot picture myself tearing pages out of a book, though. Is it ok, if I copy the page first?

Totally! That's a great, non-destructive way to do it.

Btw: What do you call this kind of art? Do you have a name for it?

I actually grew up with my parents listening to Scorpions. I didn't realize they had a song of the same title though, but I will check it out!

I wasn't sure why this grabbed my attention like it did. I stared at it for maybe 15 minuets. I thought about it and i came to the conclusion that this was a representation of memories. Memories of person or persons. The mind like the page becomes blacked out, the unimportant memories fall away. Only a few lines remain.Β

I'm glad you saw that. It definitely feels like a memory and it's why it's one of my favorite blackout poems I've made.

I really appreciate that you didn't completely black out the background text; it lets us see the genius in what you've done. Incredible work, and congratulations.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it. I tried doing it digitally once but the words completely blacked out doesn't feel quite right.
