Weeeell, I don't mind telling you this took a while.

My first ever photoshop coloured picture... ever. Everything in it was done by me, even the background, yay.

Belles' Pero was inducted into the Blue Lantern Corps. after being offered a Blue Ring and having the responsibilities of possessing one explained to her by Ganthet ad Sayd.
On her home planet of Taa, she was a priestess in a shrine to "Them", a godly race of people said to have given the sentients of Taa their current status as intelligent beings. Her shrine was located on a fairly low part of the trunk of the tree her village inhabited, and as such was often witness to the many Midling Wars that took place below. Though rarely affected personally by these wars, she would often venture down to help wounded Midlings, and gained a reputation as a healer who kept on believing in her dependants long after they had given up.
After several years of devoutly attending to wounded Midlings, she comes across an injured Midling whom none thought could possibly survive. Spending several days and nights attending to him, he eventually, miraculously begins to heal. However, before he is able to regain speech or mobility, a swarm of Midlings invade the shrine, kidnapping several Overlings including Belles.

It transpires that the Midling was a suitor to a Midling Queen, and a very powerful military figure, and upon realising his body was not on the battlefield, his men had searched for him, mistaking Belles' actions for kidnapping. For several weeks she was tortured, but nevertheless kept up the spirits of her fellow captured Overlings. Fortunately, before she could be executed, the Midling regained his speech, and recounted what had truly happened, and ordered her immediate release.

Upon returning to her Overling home with her fellow captives, and the account of her disregarding her own pain to help the innocent Overlings, she was proclaimed a heroine by her people. She continued as a minor priestess, tending to wounded, until she was approached by Ganthet, who took her to Odym.

This is Belles ' Pero in her, for lack of a more appropriate term, Blue Lantern Uniform. in the background is her home planet of Taa, and it's moon, Ruu.
