Description The Gran Turismo players will probably recognise this. It's the Chaparral 2J, by far the coolest car in my gallery. Sure it may look like a shoe box but in the back It's got two fans run by a 45 hp Two stroke snowmobile engine that makes the car suck itself to the track to greatly increase cornering and breaking. Behind the seat It's got a 7.62 Liter V8 Chevrolet engine that does 680 hp.

It only ran for one racing season because it was banned by Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).

If you want to know more about the car read about it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaparra…

As usual all comments and favourites are much appreciated. Also this time you can download the full resolution. cheers! Now I'm off to play GTA V.

The car's fan technology is the main cause because the fan shoots out dust and pebbles from behind

Now this car was freaking genius! Sure, it didn't look like much, but the technology it used was brilliant.

I kinda miss the days when people could make insane/crazy/bonkers cars like these. Back when they mounted airplane engines on F1 cars, or make a racecar with six wheels, or build an engine with more cylinders than a modern F1 starting grid. Now it's just regulation regulation regulation. Sure, it's there for safety and fairness, but it kinda suppresses creativity to an extent.

Great render by the way!

Completely agree with you. I love how they experimented with everything back in the days.Β

It was pretty awesome, all the strange and crazy ideas they came up with. Some stuff even seemed like they should have belonged in a sci-fi movie. Yet somehow they still managed to make it work, even if it was only for 5 minutes in some cases.

Now it all feels so, restrained.

Great rendering! One of my favorite cars too. It's real shame the technology got banned. Β You'd think other teams would have quickly designed their own improved variations.

That technology is called fan technology it was applied to another race car called the Brabham BT46 which is also banned

Very good recreation of the brick.

One of those cars slot car racers like to kitbash.

Slot.it in Italy wants to do it but their engineer/owner can't figure out how to get the fans to spin when the car runs.

BTW the weirdest sounding race car of all time- coming at you, you hear the aluminum block 427 then going away, the snowmobile motor.

I don't think the car ever finished a race.

Inadequate/rushed development.

It did scare everyone else to the point they cried and caused the car to be banned. Kind of the beginning of the end for what Can-Am was all about.
