I always missed the original game's colour palette, Dan. Here's a recolouring of your lovely work in that style: [link]

One of the finest existing work has that world.
Lighting learned pixels.
A unique style.
Please Dan, try to rummage through your boxes, your basement to show other pixel wonders.

A true classic.
What's even more impressive is the 16-colour in-game graphics for the old Amigas. I studied that palette for ages.
Btw, what does the tiny text below the score counter say? "Made in..."?

I did the Amiga 32 bit palette [always started with the Amiga palette, as with SpeedBall 2] then converted down to 16 but yes the CD32 and Megadrive colour conversions I remember were well handled =] I don't think we ever met ? I was in India at that time. Ruffn'Tumble was a lovely piece of work - thanks for getting in touch - speak soon I hope.

The Chaos Engine on the Amiga was and is one of my favourite games of all time. I still crack out my CD32 from time to time to play coop.

this brings to my memory one of the impossible games to finish...
soldiers the fortune of SNES took me many ours and days, even with all unsleeping nights and all my effort i coulnd finish it.
only after using an snes emulator, I finished the game. saving state is easier then using passwords....

Chaos Engine... that looks very familiar, and Bitmap Brothers sounds familiar too... wait a second! Soldiers of Fortune on Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo (the SNES version being way better)! It seems most people here are talking about a different version that is possible better than the console versions; but I still feel that Soldiers of Fortune is a groundbreaking game on the Sega and SNES for it's strange shooter-meets-role playing game aspects, and steampunk post-apocolyptic setting.
This is awesome to see, and it brings back memories, but I never played that version of the game; which apparently has a different name entirely than the version I remember.

Wow it is good to see a good retro artist actually on DA, and one that still is working on games, so many left the industry with the move to 3D art and companies being shipped out of the UK.
Chaos Engine was one of my favourite games on the Amega, I loved it. It is good to see that you are still going.
It was a pleasure seeing this on Deviant art ^^ Thank you!

Wow, seeing this brings me back memories when I played the chaos engine on the PC.
It's also got that nice steampunk theme to it which I didn't know back then, it's something that people didn't catch on until recently.
Nicely done mate.

I loved the Artwork of that game! It's struck my steampunk-chord when the word steampunk wasn't even invented yet. I wish there were a modern remake.
