no. it was a rather popular comic book series by Top Cow, a TV show, and most recently... it was readapted into a manga series and Anime.

It's not really an adaptation, the manga & anime are a sequel set after the American comic.

ah. adaptation, sequel... it's technically the same, both continue a franchise in one way or another.
only things important is it's an all powerful weapon that chooses women and is really really sexy-looking.
i'm waiting for the video game adaptation... if they can make one for The Darkness... then they can do the same thing with Witchblade and Angelus.
