i love the mythology in it and that cat being the only living thing in a wasteland is great. but for being the book of pain, the cat doesn't look overly pained. which begs the questions: whose pain are we seeing? and is the cat a harbinger or just a silent witness? hmmmm

First of all, I want to thank you for the nice comment.
Your interpretation of the picture has failed a bit. The cat represents the gatekeeper between the world of the living ones and the dead. In the background you can see the crosses symbolically. Not everyone dies peacefully and without pain. These martyred souls are led by the gatekeeper (the cat). I hope that I have explained it understandable.

Cats are not only cute animals but extremely useful. It is always good to have a cat in the house!
