Description Finally finished my latest piece. I've been working on this one for a while, and I really like how it turned out. I really wasn't sure how to make planet fragments, but the method I developed seemed to work great and I like how it came out.

This is probably the largest piece I've worked on, the original was 4500x3000, and the photoshop file was a little more than 500 mb. And there was a ton of layers, many many layers, the most I've worked with so far.

Anyway, hope you enjoy this latest piece. I think I might make some high-res wallpapers of this one.

Print should be available soon.

Hi-res wallpaper pack now available here: [link]

Actually I only used photoshop on this one (except for some of the asteroids which I rendered real quick in bryce).

Wow. Wowwowwow. Hmm, in my opinion it would be better if you gave the back of the fragments (the darker side that's behind) the same treatment you gave to the visible side. I mean that effect of fading or something, because now it looks like it just cracked. It's way too sharp and straight. Hope you understood what I meant. Amazing, nonetheless.

CircuitD is rather picky

Very nice DC, if you make a wallpaper out of it, I'll use it! The one comment I'll make on this is that some of the tiny fragments throughout the picture look rather... identical. Like you made one really detailed fragment, and then copy pasted it a few dozen times. It's hard to notice unless you look really close, but it has a rather distinct shape. I noticed the same thing with the asteroid belt in "Combustion". If this isn't the case, and they all just happened to look like that, I apologize. But if I'm right, you may want to try adding a little more variety to ward off nitpickers like me It looks really awesome though, I'm just trying to bestow some advice while I'm here. Keep it up, and consider yourself +devWatched.

You noticed, eh? I guess I will have to add more variety to my asteroids in the future. I just didn't think it was really worth it to go through the process of creating some more asteroids, but next time I'll definitely put a little more effort into creating my asteroid fields. Thanks for the advice

I think that's what's happening though-- the planet has lost its mass and the atmosphere is breaking up.

Man. I wish my browser would go ahead and load the full version cause it's GOTTA be good... but it won't, so I'll try again later...

Awesome man!

circuitD [2003-12-06 07:14:59 +0000 UTC]

cool but if possible remove the atmosphere because a broken up destroyed planet would not have any because the mass of the sections of planet would not have the mass to sustain a atmosphere
