I always wanted to draw this scene, and really like how it turned out. I always loved their design, detail and expressions. This movie still blows me away to this day. I did alter Justin slightly, mainly his far cheek fur and I show his far ear. They were different in the original. Drawn with reference.Related content

No, I don't see any reason why they should. Mrs. Brisby is a mouse and Justin is a rat. I cannot see any potential between the two at all. Justin would outlive her, and they would never have spend much time with her any. Mrs. Brisby may not be as inclined to visit Thorn Valley or live there, and it is most likely that her heart is with Jonathan, and she will never marry again.
Also, in the novel “Racso and the Rats of NIMH,” Justin marries a rat. So I don't think it's likely for them to be together either.

True, but Don Bluth could’ve always done his own take on the sequel too. A lot of the time, love doesn’t care about the details. It just depends. And you know fans like to “ship” a couple together. Just would’ve been an interesting thing to see is all. Plus, Mrs. Brisby seemed very smitten, and even said beautiful, as if she was referring to Justin.

Honestly, that argument makes no sense. I could even go so far as to say that I even inquired Mr. Bluth himself about this, and he agreed with me that he never intended for a romance between Justin and Mrs. Brisby. Just the thought of a romance irks me now. I'm sorry, but it just does.

The fact that the original book the movie was based on ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mrs._...…) DID have a sequel! A sequel made by the late author's daughter called "Racso and the Rats of NIMH" ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racso...…). From what I heard, it was VERY good! Sure, the title character is Jenner's son and they killed him off in the movie...but COME ON!!! They could have easily worked around that, do you agree?
