You tremble, carefully pushing the basket containing your offering forward. A lump fills your throat as the recipient, a pale-skinned blond man dressed in vibrant clothing, gazes down at it, and then you. He regards you both for a brief moment, then utters something in a language which makes the air thrum and your skin tingle with dread.

As the blond man’s magic levitates the offering into his waiting hand, you steal a hesitant look at him. He looks like a Xholaghanan, an Olamide to be exact, but his unnaturally golden hair, his…inhuman features—what is he? His resemblance to an Infernal is unmistakable, but he lacks horns….

”Nice haul,” the man says, flashing you a glowingly white smile that’s enough to put you at greater ease. “The ring is actually pure gold…a family heirloom, perhaps?” He chuckles without awaiting your answer. “Doesn’t matter—it’s ours now. Or rather—his.”

Cradling the basket, the blond man steps aside and kneels. Suddenly the atmosphere of the dark room changes. Something—no, someone—lurks in the darkness, a towering figure wreathed in a noticeably golden mist, regarding you with gold glowing eyes. Your heart pounds in your chest as the Infernal being stands there in silence, their slitted-pupils faintly twitching as they size you up with an intense stare.

It’s him. You’d bet your already-damned soul on it.

You should look away. But you can’t. You must follow through with the ritual you initiated, lest you risk…angering him.

The very thought fills you to the brim with pure, unadulterated horror.

The blond man smirks, but you don’t notice, as you’re far too transfixed upon the Demon Lord peering down at you. Then, as though in sudden realization, you drop your gaze and bow, your forehead pressed against the floor.

“Ah, I do appreciate manners,” the Demon Lord murmurs in amusement, his deep voice carrying a reverb that reminds you of the faint growling of a wolf.

You don’t answer, not vocally anyway, but you sense you don’t need to.

”So,” Lord Mammon intones, his gold and black dreadlocks writhing, and his sinuous tail flicking like a metronome in excitement, “you wish to strike a deal with me?”

This is my latest artwork of Mammon, the Demon Lord of Greed, a prominent character in my “Sacred Lust” novels and spin-offs. Just as with my character Zadkiel, he demanded I draw him again after not updating him in so long, so I did what I had to do, you know? x}

Thought I’d add something a little more to his description this time (besides, it gave me another excuse to flex my creative writing muscles.) xD Also, in my story, it’s lore-accurate that if you dare to summon Mammon (or rather, get his personal attention), you stand a FAR better chance of not getting your skull ripped out of your head while you’re still somehow alive by showing humility (He’s an Alpha Wolf, you know) and offering him pure gold (which he is of course, EXTREMELY obsessed with 😆) as tribute (Bonus points if you obtained through rather…adventurous means. 😏)

Per the norm, his dreadlocks took FOREVER. Ah, the beauty of torturing myself by rendering them. 😂 Fun fact: The increase in gold locks is actually his way of “aging”. (Instead of grey hairs he gets gold ones. 😏). This feature is significant because it represents his “maturity” gained via his relationship with Ken “Midas” Vergoldet, his Infernal Witch of Greed and by his own words, his Greatest Treasure. In a way, Mammon’s dark soul has become more “golden” as he finally has someone who can truly understand him as the Cosmic Force of Greed. Let’s face it: We ALL need someone in our lives who “gets us”, don’t you think?
