Description
I'm currently updating my website and focusing on the 'Story' and Characters section.
I've finished writing it all up and now am in the stage of sketching the characters. When I'm done with the character sketches I'll have them coloured and added into the website.
I've really enjoyed my weekend doing all of this. ^^ Still there's lots more to do!
It's a lot of fun when you're at an exciting stage of releasing more information about your cartoon series and in a presentable fashion may I add. *thumbs up*
It makes you feel proud that you've got lots of people waiting to found out what your cartoon series is all about! = )
Anyway here's Sketch 04 consisting Ruby 'Locke' Steadfast, Ma Fei and Ashworth the Wombat. ^^

Wow, after reading Lil's comment, I don't think any crit I could offer would be beneficial. xD She hit on everything very well. Props to her for such a wonderful comment!
Anyway, I really do like Fei's pose. It's really dynamic and portrays his character very well. The stoic, silent, "I'll kick your ass with my pinky finger" type of guy. xD I do think he's my favorite out of all your characters. It's the whiskers, I swear! ;___; *Plays with them* And his eyes are lovely~ *PUNCHED*
I was also thinking of drawing either a fanart of Ruby for you or ATTEMPTING a basic Sonic style female body tutorial? D: No idea, but I do wanna draw Ash, Ruby, and Fei for you one day! They're really creative, fun characters and deserve some love. Fei a little less as his fangirls seem to be very... providing. ROFL.
I also am kind of iffy on Ash's eyes. They seem too narrow and the top-most portion is really high. To the point where it enters the ear. This just looks a bit strange in my honest opinion.
All in all, though! These sketches are great. Wonderful poses and adorable mini sketches. xD Poor Fei... Oh, and before I forget, are those wing-like things Ruby's hair [ pigtails?] or her wings? Or are they part of her attire? x__@ I just need to know so I don't muck up her design if and when I draw her.

Awesome stuff. I still cant get over how amazing Fei looks in this. Dang... just so awesome and perfect. But I coulda SWORN that when I first saw this, Fei had a smug little smile, but I dont see it anymore o_0 Heh, weird.
Oh, and I love Ruby's scarf! At first I thought they were wings, so I think the scarf idea works really well like that.
And Ash is totally cool, like always :]

No actually you were very right about that smug smile of Fei's! I actually didn't notice it at first (I had intended to give Fei a serious expression whenever he is in 'fighting' mode) but a little later I saw him smiling! I said to myself, "Gah! That's not what I wanted! X_X" XXXD
Just a small line accidentally drawn next to his mouth made a difference on his facial expression already! XXD
Anyway what's this about Ruby's scarf? O.O;; They are still her wings!

Your art is amazing as always; Fei is simply wonderful in that pose (uhm, last time I've seen him I'm sure he was a little less thin, or is just me?).
Ruby's body still seems... Weird, but with time I'll get used of this ^^.
What I dislike are Ruby's wings... They're different from before, aren't they? They look like ears, not wings.

I have to say, even though Fei doesn't really interest me as much as girls hype him to be, I think you drew him particularly well here! His expression looks great.. and I've always liked those little whiskers that poked out of him ":-["
Oh Ashworth and your FIRE POWER. I like the squiggly-lines you made on the area where he's creating the energy.. very crisp and stuff! And I like how his body around him has several lines as well.. particularly on the face XD Looks like he's glowing.
Hahahah, I'm actually really amused seeing comments criticising Ruby's anatomy yet not actually saying ANYTHING about how you can improve on it! So I thought it was fair enough you saying how you felt comfortable since how can you know?
And that, unfortunately, is when I come in ":-[" *Inevitable critique time ago-go!*
I notice you tend to give Ruby very small shoulders which can be fine (I do the same for my characters), but it seems because they're so small, when you draw raised arms, it looks like they some right out of the torso.. an arm isn't meant to come out that straight.. if you imagine her raising her arm down, do you think the shoulder will be in the same placement? I'd imagine it sort of like.. coming down only to show that she has absolutely no shoulder on that side at all! So there will always be that little "bulge" of a shoulder when an arm is being raised up.. it's difficult to draw, definitely.. I still have trouble with it.. but if you raise your own arm, you might notice the muscles and tendons and stuff ":-[" I think it's just ideal to look at real life references.. shots of it and stuff.. because I can describe all I want (And get things wrong since I'm crap at anatomy myself), but a picture is totally work a thousand words.
Now.. how do you draw Ruby's torso? From the way I see it, it sort of looks like you draw the breasts before the torso since the bottom of the breasts seem to perfectly align themselves with it.. which makes it look awkward. Breasts are sort of their own bags of meat.. and they kind of "lie" over the ribcage and stuff. They have the shape of "resting teacups" as opposed to like.. beans XD Like the female body isn't really a box where the chest droops down from the top.
[link] This could probably give an idea.. but maybe you should look up tutorials and such.. because as I said before, I could yap all I want, but the fact is that I still have a lot to learn myself.. and I don't wanna put words into realitie's mouth ":-[" I think it would be very useful to know this stuff, though.. because although you might feel comfortable with the anatomy yourself, you'll notice people AREN'T. And you're making this comic for the readers.. for the audience. You want them to be into the story, not thinking "Geez Ruby's breasts are weird"
Souppy has actually said that to me on occasion when he read your comic.. and I sort of thought the same.. so anatomy in a comic can really.. make or break the attention. You're not writing a story.. you're illustrating it.. so it's good you know basic concepts of it like the anatomy of your characters and such. That will attract far more people who might avoid it just because of certain parts being "drawn weird"
So yeah ":-[" Good sketches, though!

I will make mention on your assistance on my next character sketch Veronica. It bugs me a little that people give me a critique without telling me how to fix it. Yours was a perfect example and I thank you again.
I've updated the old image after taking your advice and studying a bit on how breats should look like (I looked at a combination of the manga I've studied, the 3D anatomy and some real life images - I realise a very big mistake....) I hope this new one will do some justice. *thumbs up*

I realised they were huge... That was what I had wanted for Ruby... She is the young adult that will use her sex appeal to her advantage type character.
But then I realised a fatal mistake when drawing breats... They don't seem to connect... X_X;;;; They are like... WIDE APART......... LMFAO! XXD I now have to fix the other sketches of girls/women that I've drawn so far! XXD Thanks again! You have been a life saver! Do let me know if I still didn't get it right!
