Description This is a piece, representing Odin(wotan), hanging from Yggdrasil, during his final effort to take the runes. In the background there are his two wolves and hit two crows ( Huginn, "thought" and Muninn, "memory).
The personal interesting thing about this work, is a singular that came to me one night while i was working on this piece, leaving a deep meaning inside of me.
Hope you'll enjoy this.

I have not been on Deviantart in years, but I came across your interpretation of Odin when I was looking up various pictures of him on the internet and was brought to you! Your drawings are BEAUTIFUL!!! I am teaching a class on Runes this weekend and was wondering if I could add this picture with your name and information from Deviantart for my students to view and look up other works of art that you have produced! I would like to, with your permission, add your drawing to the paperwork I will be handing out about Odin. I hope you will say yes, because I really love this! Thank you. J

Thank you so very much for allowing me to use your painting! This is my very favorite depiction of Odin that I have ever come across! I have another class this week and will add it to that material with your name and deviant art contact info. Your work is simply beautiful! Good luck with your future editorial project! The Runes are something that have to be lived and experienced and lead to nothing less than transformation into the realms of the Higher Self.

I love just about every bit of this. This is probably the first time I've seen someone draw Odin reaching for the knowledge of the futhark instead of having him in some sort of meditative pose. I really appreciate that. The incorporation of his animals is great.

Was the pose influenced by the Tarot hanging man who tends to be protrayed in this orientation?

Just curious.

hi! no it's not, the pose and all around it is influences by the legend of Odin, who hanged for 9 days and nine night from the sacred tree yggdrasil. Although i'm really into tarots as well (but never painted that yet)

Oh I'm familiar with the story, I've just never seen anyone portray his hanging in that orientation before, I was curious. Most folks tend to automatically go for hanging by the neck. But it does make it easier to portray a physically reaching down for the runes to take them up.

I had this doubt too... 'cause i the books I have 'bout the runes it never tell the orientation of the body...so I thought to interpret it my own way

Great work, and also a great concept. The wolves are so simple and so well fitting at the same time in the background!
