Nice shot. The thing in the middle of the grille is a styling element. I think it was supposed to look like the intake on a jet. It's a similar design theme to the 1949 and 1950 Fords.

I own a 1970 Mercury Cyclone 429. It's not at nice as that one b/c it's been sitting up for 6 years in the sun, but hey.........it RUNS!!!!!!

Nopoe - Mercury hasn't had anything resembling a muscle car since the last Cougar (late 90s early 2000s). And that vehicle was probably more comparable to an MR2-like small sports car than a real muscle car.
