Time for a colour value study... only white and violet -- skulls are cool... purple is cool... so purple skulls are cool. Simple as.The focus of this exercise was to develop more complex shape through shading only... additionally acted as a test of Artist Grade paint vs Student Grade... the Violet was Winsor & Newton Series 1 Oil Colour -- the White was Artist's Loft Titanium White... the Artist's Loft stuff is just not fun to work with... it oozes unmixed oil and has very little pigment in it... if possible you should probably spend the 20% extra for Artist Grade stuff... (i'm going to use my left over Titanium White as liquid white for landscape / abstract stuff)
