First you tell me I'm going to hell and to top it off I have to pay you to get there, that doesn't sound like such a good deal to me and the fact of the matter is I died a poor man so unless somebody can spot me a obolus or danake I suppose I'll just have to go back.

On this one it was just model building and texturing (which only consisted of the grunge texture). After I rendered it there wasn't much postwork, maybe just some layering and filtering to bring out some saturation.

Your sinister mind triumphs again. I have actually seen what you look like in reality but now I am wondering if those pictures are just a hoax. Maybe you are in reality some Dr. Evil/Blofeld character with a maniacal laugh. Your eyes are individually coloured with one blue eye and the other brown. You don't live in a house but instead live in a "lair". Also, I bet you like to sit in an enormous high-backed black swivel chair, with one arched eyebrow and your fingers steepled together.
Seriously though, this is very macabre and looks great. I like the overall colour of the picture and how you have made it look like it was made out of actual stone. In fact it looks as if it is something straight out of the Renaissance period.

Sweeeeet. A renaissance stage play feel is what I was going for (hence the water cutouts) but I tried to get the angel cherub things to look and pose similar to artwork back then. Being a bag fan of old art like that, and loving contrast like I do, I like to make these old feel type images with my twist on them.
If I could afford it I would definitely have a lair full of traps and such

This is very much like life; the sitution you're in is unfair, and then it turns out even worse.
I like the 'angels' in the top of the picture- they give a very frightening effect to the over-all scare of the picture.
(And you know, if the guy was poor, why couldn't he just grab hold of one of the cherubs flying above his head?)

That's right, morbid tragic irony. I don't know if I'd trust grabbing one of those cherubs, but I suppose under the circumstances, what choice would one have?

Oh that's no problem. Critiques are more (I think) for discussing technique and such, like if someone wants to comment on how lighting could be improved or how a certain element may be very well accomplished. More for technical dissecting than just normal commenting. Again, I think that's what it's for, but I've never actually received one so I can't be 100%.

Wanderinf the shores for 100 years doesn't seem so bad, as the most interesting people must be the ones going to hell anyway, I'm sure I would have many interesting... errrrr, conversations
The stone textures are beautifully applied here, and make your artwork look like a delicate sculpture.
I love to stare at all the details you took care of and, although the flying women/skeletons are my favourites, I like the man on the right very much, desperate emaciated figures... his pose is truly striking.

Yes, I figure wandering the shores would be an easy escape. Too easy.
I'll let you in on a secret, the flying women are also my favorite part. SO, the question is, is this another area where our taste in things are similar? OR, did I subconsciously pay much closer attention to them during setup, since the scene was built around them essentially. (It's a long story, but the image was made for them, not the ferryman, and the wheels on it started turning in a moment during my 'Southern Cross' creation when I noticed something in one of the non camera viewscreens)

I think both answers are valid, you paid more attention to the flying women, AND we're having the same taste in many fields

I ALWAYS notice the details in your works, and not only because I know you're a man who pays attention to a lof of things while working on a picture.

Ohhhhh now you're waking the beast. And I think the ferryman will NOT receive his pay for this charter. AND........this tasting comparison seems worthy of a more 'in depth' study, I want to take a hands on approach to this to be sure for myself
