Born to Admiral and Tabatha, Crowley was the middle-born in a litter of seven. He had two sisters, Abernathy and Ellis, and 4 brothers, Wilson, Campbell, Thomson, and Jackson. He and his siblings were typical puppies, they ate, played, slept, pooped, as they explored their little world. When it was time to be weaned it went pretty easy and soon he and his siblings are up for adoption. Like most adopted pets, some of his siblings went quicker than others. Crowley is sad to see them leave but he is excited at getting adopted as well. Time continued on and all of the pups found new owners except for little Crowley who the only one left without a permanent home. Sadly, this resulted in him being moved to a no-kill shelter as his mother's owner couldn't take care of the energetic puppy any longer. Unfortunately, Crowley fell under the Black Dog Syndrome of pound dogs and he was constantly overlooked for puppies of lighter pelts. This didn't weigh him down and he was optimistic that the perfect owners just hadn't come by yet.

A few months passed and his optimistic outlook on his situation had begun to wobble. He'd watched puppies who'd come in after him got adopted over time as he grew older. Finally, things changed for the better and he was adopted by a young woman named Tabatha Tanner. Tabatha had recently moved to Vancouver for a nursing job and wanted to make the place feel more like home. Life was pretty good for Crowley as he and Tabatha grow closer each day. Eventually, Tabatha had him trained as a therapy dog so she could take him to the hospital where she worked. This had opened up a whole new world for Crowley and let him met new people and other animals that visited the hospital to visit their humans. Sadly, the good times didn't last long as Tabatha health suddenly took a turn for the worse. She told him it was cancer and that she would be going to chemotherapy treatments. Crowley didn't fully understand what cancer as she cried into his fur but he did what he could to comfort his human.

Thankfully, Crowley's therapy dog certification allowed him to keep her company during visiting hours. Even as Tabatha worsened, he did want he could to make her happy throughout the months of treatment. During this time he met a friend of Tabatha's named Merit Blackwell who was a doctor at the Vancouver, B.C. Children's Hosptial. She was a kind older woman who treated Crowley nicely and took care of him while Tabatha was hospitalized. Eventually, he was allowed to stay full time to make Tabatha as comfortable as possible since she wasn't recovering. He would watch her grow weaker with a deep sadness but he enjoyed the time he could spend with her until she eventually passed on.

Crowley was heartbroken and mourned the loss of his owner. When the Coroner came for the body, he was placed in the morgue since no one really knew what to do with the now homeless dog. To make things worse the threat of being put back into a shelter loomed over his head. Thankfully, Merit stepped in and gave him a second home at the Vancouver, B.C. Children's Hosptial. Before he leaves the main hospital, he visits Tabatha's room one last time. It's chilly without her presence and the room smells of disinfectant chemicals. He rested his head on the bed as a silent final goodbye to the woman he loved. With his eyes closed, he could almost feel as if she was still truly there with him. Suddenly, he heard his name called faintly and the room filled with her scent. A warmth enveloped him briefly before the chill reset and he knew things would be okay.

Crowley spent the next few years with Merit and enjoyed his new home at the hospital as a permanent and entertaining the sick kids of the children's hospital. Some of the older nurses and parents are hesitant to allow Crowley access to the children due to the superstitiousness of Black Dog but Crowley's gentle nature soon won them over. He made new friends, human and animal, as patients came and went through the years he stayed. Those that passed on continued to leave phantom feelings and the older he got the stronger these became. It wasn't until he was an old man that the humans disappeared. His initial response was panic but the warm pressure of those who'd past was there and he took comfort in it as he roamed the now abandoned building. He stayed alone with his ghosts until Harper and the Bethesda clique moved in. Even now, he isn't fully sure if those that now live with are really there or if he died long ago.
