Yep, it's free, up to a point. The HBO series, and the original books by George R R Martin are very worth checking out, if you are into fantasy medieval stuff, although there's maybe a little too much gratuitous sex and nudity...

I have issues with any obstructions on the quillons, but that's not YOUR idea.

I wouldn't have thought they'd be too objectionable. They protect the base of the blade, which is a weak point (since it narrows there to go into the grip), and mean an enemy can't grab the sword by the hand-guard.

I've done some fencing and broadsword work... If possible, one wants the blow to slide off the parry, so that the opponent's force doesn't get directed into your arm, which is working pretty hard as it is! Β The serious SCA people and edge fencers of my acquaintance are big on not absorbing the energy of an attack, if possible (I just groaned at Jackson's portrayal of Anulzibar), which is why I objected to the points on the guard.
I love your work and respect you greatly, hence, my temerity in offering an opinion! But that's my reasoning.

Nice painting. The rampart lion on the shield looks just like the weapon shield of my country.
