Her pose is great and I love the flowing hair, but her face is somehow... I don't know, inappropraitely calm and well, benevolent, lol. I don't know, as if she was doing him a benevolent favor. Or maybe it's just me?...

hand guards are rare because are supposed to be the best of the best and so don't require that sort of protection. a jedi does have that option, however, as lightsaber construction is supposed to be modeled upon the jedi crafting it.
the lightsaber itself disipates the heat with a built in heat-surpressor, working in tandem with a valuabvle jewel.
