Description After joking with myself saying that I’ll probably end up drawing another Araqiel in another outfit before I drew Rahab… so I drew Rahab.

so uh, get ready for the lore dump.

Rahab is a servant of Belial, and is one of the few people that can actually call Belial by his given name. Rahab once served under Leviathan, but after years of torment and committing atrocities in the name of his master, Rahab sought a way out (in fact, it was a memory of Araqiel that snapped him out of his murderous trance). On one of his final missions for Leviathan, he had been on the Upper Plains and saw Araqiel, smiling and happy, and tried to approach him, only to be suddenly taken back by his own tainted soul and not wanting to make Araqiel “dirty.” It was also at this time that Belial was beginning to understand what Leviathan was planning to do to the world and was actively trying to find ways to stop him… and found a very beaten Rahab. Belial took Rahab in, initially claiming that he needed help exiting Leviathan’s castle, and used it as an opportunity to try and recruit the tainted soul.

Initially, Rahab started his service with Belial as a double agent; he’d continue working for Leviathan, but would relay any new information to Belial. However, Rahab was eventually caught, but was able to escape death by being rescued by Ridwan (Belial’s Lieutenant). Thus, this began his true partnership with Belial. Belial had been fully aware of the feelings that Rahab harbored for Araqiel, and when he initially asked about any other possible recruitments, he was trying to see if he would recommend Araqiel. For a while, Rahab would deny the feelings he had for his childhood friend, but it eventually came out that he had been afraid of harming Araqiel for the corruption he had become under Leviathan. Belial informed him that, at that moment, the moment he came under his care, he erased any connection he still had with Leviathan, therefore he wasn’t actually tainted. He couldn’t remove the trauma and the memories, but he could take away the bruises left behind.Initially, Rahab started his service with Belial as a double agent; he’d continue working for Leviathan, but would relay any new information to Belial. For some time, Rahab worked with Ridwan to recruit new followers for Belial, initially targeting those who served under Leviathan or Mephistopheles, one of them being Lilith, who, to this day, remains impartial to her master and Belial. Rahab would frequent the Middle Plains, especially after the rumor that someone was going to try and usurp the Light Realm throne, and find watchers (half-angels) who were willing enough to fall. It was then he actually met with Araqiel again, and they would continue to have frequent run-ins… and eventually rediscovered the love they had for one another. For some time, Rahab worked with Ridwan to recruit new followers for Belial, initially targeting those who served under Leviathan or Mephistopheles, one of them being Lilith, who, to this day, remains impartial to her master and Belial. It is probably good to point out that both Araqiel and Rahab always had feelings for one another. Araqiel, however, was always focused on his studies and Rahab was focused on becoming a part of the military. When they were younger, they once acted on their feelings (during a final goodbye), leaving Rahab in a perpetual state of longing for the full-blood angel. Not wanting to force his hand, Rahab left without a trace and tried to move on. Anyway, seeing and talking with Araqiel again only brought those feelings back, and for Araqiel… well, it didn’t take long. They soon began their relationship in secret. When Ryne usurped control and placed strict rules on both the Upper Plains and Middle Plains, Rahab urged Araqiel to leave with him, as the new restrictions would prohibit him from seeing them. At first, they were able to maintain their relationship in secret… until Ryne damned anyone who had been in an “unholy’ relationship. Fuming, Araqiel used this as motivation to try and sneak his watcher students out of the Light Realm… only to be caught and tried for treason and treachery. Rahab found out that Araqiel had been captured and relayed the information to Belial. Belial cautioned him that by removing Araqiel in this way (against his wishes, essentially), would constitute him as a fallen angel, and would no longer be able to return to the Upper Plains. Fearing the worst, Rahab agreed to the conditions and the Lesser God and he rescued Araqiel and brought him to Belial’s Realm. It is probably good to point out that both Araqiel and Rahab always had feelings for one another. In “current” times, Rahab and Araqiel are fully married, and are fully recognized as officers in Belial’s Legion. Because they are both fallen angels, they are forbidden from being able to enter the Upper Plains (they can go there with Belial, but they cannot go on their own… not that they really have a reason to go there lol). While Araqiel is genderfluid and uses any pronouns, Rahab is cismale and uses he/him pronouns. Rahab tends to be fairly expressionless, and he looks irritated 99% of the time. The only person who has ever seen him smile is Araqiel (who often makes him smile). He is genuinely a father-figure type character, however, and is sometimes called “dad” by Malphas, who Rahab practically raised prior to Araqiel taking over that role. Many of the followers of Belial look to Rahab as the voice of reason when Belial isn’t around… in fact, Belial consults with Rahab and Araqiel more often than anyone else in his Legion. Belial holds a lot of respect for him, and refers to him as a friend rather than a follower.Rahab tends to be fairly expressionless, and he looks irritated 99% of the time.
