Description Just a thought about failure, dreams and how life can change so radically...

The idea for this came from one of Bobby's (`insaneone ) recent journals. He talks about how much his life has changed in a year. Of course he talked about how much better his life is now but it really got my mind working. Thanks bro...

Enjoy.

How: Slots were cut in the bulb using a diamond Dremel cutter. It went through it like butter without a single splinter. The hole thing is supported from behind using a metal rod attacked to the hidden part of the hilt of the blade and put through the background plexiglass. 6 Flashes were used all over the place at varying strengths. I moved the white balance to give a cooler feel and had to neat image this one to remove some of the noise. Sharpening and some spot removal also.

That is stunning and brilliant. At first I thought that was no way a real light bulb, and by looking at how it was cut I assumed it was plastic. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter, this is one piece of art I'm definitely going to show people ^_^

It's also very metaphoric if you look at it at the right perspectives and has a somewhat deeper feeling to it. You captured beauty into one piece and engulfed it with intellect brilliance. Just amazing

that is brilliant, and the bulb is intact.

Yes, very true. It's interesting that even though the bulb is totally pierced, it's not broken...
Thanks for explaining what you did for it, I like knowing how you set it up.

I absolutely love your work all around, and this is no exception. I have a question though, do you set up all of the shots you do and just take them at the right moment(like the pictures with water) or do you mostly photoshop or something to that effect? either way, its utterly amazing.

Davenit In reply to moonlightreaper13 [2008-12-30 12:21:45 +0000 UTC]

No photoshop, just a lot of work. LOL. I suck with software so I have to rely on the old fashioned way.

Thanks

can i ask you how you arrived at the idea for this picture form 'insaneone's journal?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Davenit In reply to redchinese [2008-12-30 12:25:32 +0000 UTC]

My brain works nutty. I got thinking about his year and the roller coaster that it was. Even bad decisions start with an idea. An idea dying doesn't mean it was a good one to begin with, it could just as easily be a bad one. Those are the idea's you don't mind dying.

See not all my pictures are dark and bleak. Sometimes people just see them that way.
