Description if a hole is just an empty space
them if something is full of holes
then it must be full of emptiness
like a vacuum
i must remember to empty my vacuum cleaner
it is full of dust
like the desert
deserted
except for people digging holes
looking for oil
if it doesn't rain
what fills the hole in the ground where the oil used to be
do the grains of sand filter through
like an egg timer
or should i empty my vacuum cleaner down there?

and do hills and holes go hand in hand?
and are moles the missing link between the hill and the hole?

Line 10: artifacts, too. It's kind of neat (well, at least to me), how the image adjusts when I refocus from oil to Egyptology. Vision is so influenced by experience. Sometimes I wish I were a clean slate.

digging up the past and being a clean slate
is it like finishing a crossword with the wrong answers and then starting a new one?

A most excellent comparison. I think I am in a lamentation period...no clean slate for me anymore, and no ability to self-fool. Sometimes I wish I could feed in wrong answers and just walk away, with impunity. You're probably not at that point quite yet. I find the aging process quite fascinating.

i don't think it is an age thing
maybe it has to do with roots...
or which life model you follow
i guess it makes sense to be a tree...
rather than to flap your arms in an effort to fly and realise that you are more likely to lay an egg

Interesting to read this, coming right upon the heels of my ramble about a sense of place. Yes, indeed, best to be the tree!
