Description When the planet Xeemean was discovered ten months ago in in a recently unheard of galaxy, nicknamed the Glacies galaxy for its weak stars and cold planets, it was believed that the only life on the arctic planet consisted of simple life forms such as fish-like organisms and some sort of arctic fowl which more resembled lizards then birds. With a sunrise that according to orbital calculations only happened every 279 Earth years, Xeemean was entering its solar phase just in time for scientists to witness the true nature of this mysterious icy orb.
After two weeks of constant observation, small heat signatures were detected emanating from the nearly mile high glaciers that nearly covered 50 percent of the planets surface. Scientists intrigued by the phenomena quickly sent drones to monitor the activity and were shocked to find much larger and much more aggressive life forms cryogenically frozen deep in the ice. On the 16th day of observation by the drones, scientists witnessed through the amazing technology of video beaming across 100,000 light years the rebirth of the true rulers of this now hotbed of activity. Pun intended.
Called the Xeemean Phoenix, this mighty beast emerged from the ice weak and confused at first, ports on its massive horns glowing an eerie red, but through some sort of unknown biological heating process (which was eventually discovered to be the most complex vascular system Human beings had ever encountered, consisting of two hearts and a manufacture of super heated blood through a process similar to nuclear fission), the Phoenix quickly regained its strength, and began its reign of terror on the unaware inhabitants of Xeemean.

I think this is my third time doing some sort of arctic beastie. Tons of fun! Thanks for looking.

I don't think you really needed a cold galaxy with dim stars to have an ice planet, it just seems like needless overkill and is kind of unrealistic as dim stars would be red dwarfs which would have tidally locked planets and red skies

Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00am. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death.
Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if u copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes u will have the best day of ur life tomorrow. u will either get kissed or asked out, if u break this chain u will see a little dead girl in your room tonight. in 53 mins someone will say i love you or im sorry BALONEY!!!!!

if you want me to i can make this in ark (i'll give alot of credit ur welcome)
If you don't know what ark is here ya go and if you decide to buy ark it's um 59.99!. it used to be like 24 dollars So sad.
As a man or woman stranded naked, freezing and starving on the shores of a mysterious island called ARK, you must hunt, harvest resources, craft items, grow crops, research technologies, and build shelters to withstand the elements. Use your cunning and resources to kill or tame & breed the leviathan dinosaurs and other primeval creatures roaming the land, and team up with or prey on hundreds of other players to survive, dominate... and escape!Β Dinosaurs, Creatures, & Breeding! -- over 100+ creatures can be tamed using a challenging capture-&-affinity process, involving weakening a feral creature to knock it unconscious, and then nursing it back to health with appropriate food. Once tamed, you can issue commands to your tames, which it may follow depending on how well you’ve tamed and trained it. Tames, which can continue to level-up and consume food, can also carry Inventory and Equipment such as Armor, carry prey back to your settlement depending on their strength, and larger tames can be ridden and directly controlled! Fly a Pterodactyl over the snow-capped mountains, lift allies over enemy walls, race through the jungle with a pack of Raptors, tromp through an enemy base along a gigantic brontosaurus, or chase down prey on the back of a raging T-Rex! Take part in a dynamic ecosystem life-cycle with its own predator & prey hierarchies, where you are just one creature among many species struggling for dominance and survival. Tames can also be mated with the opposite gender, to selectively breed successive generations using a trait system based on recombinant genetic inheritance. This process includes both egg-based incubation and mammalian gestation lifecycles! Or put more simply, raise babies! (SORRY FOR THE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG SENTENCE (S)

Just out of curiosity - why were these creatures cryogenically frozen? Where they just hibernating? Is this a completely natural phenomenon? And if not, what kind of effect would it have on the planet's environment?

This is possibly my favorite creature piece of yours yet, Dave! Both designs are quite nice. I'm lovin' the panicked, chicken-like quality of the prey animals, and the phoenix itself is awesome. Neat idea with the fission-powered circulatory system.
I never got past the doodlin' stage of my Xeemean Phoenix. Coincidentally, though, my creatures also had that enlarged outer claw.

I keep meaning to participate in either CoW or CPA, but I always seem to either have one of my own projects to work on or a commission. Plus, starting next week, the TAD monster will be gobbling down my days!

The Xeemean Phoenix sketches are the penguin-lookin' guys in the last post in this page [link] . I'm also probably going to do a much belated Portal Guardian here soon.
