Description After look at nic022.deviantart.com/ gallery I got inspired to download Topmod. code.google.com/p/topmod/

Crashed it a lot. This was the first thing I managed to make that didn't end in a crash/freeze.

Program seems very unstable on my PC, but it does have some neat features.

The materials were exported from Bryce and I used UVmapper to provide the UV's for those mats.

I know that feeling.  I too had only an ati card.  I had to save up not only for Octane but a GPU to run it on.  GTX660 hit the sweet spot for me in terms of performance v price.  But given that was a few months ago now and the market is always evolving, it's possibly not the best choice.  I got the 660 for £200 on Amazon.  It's in as a second GPU but not in crossfire or anything fancy like that, it's not even connected to a monitor - all it does is run Octane.

Yes I can understand that, I was fortunate in that I picked up a commission right after getting Octane so I could sort of square up spending the money.

TopMod in a certain way is quite reliable about the crashes and freezes.

Found it very stable on standard procedures when being careful and not trying to join non matching topologies or deleting essential vertices or edges.

You can easily create freeze like status by subdividing. It's subdivision algorithm seems to need an enormous amount of machine power - but it's very good as it keeps the volume and doesn't make structures thinner and thinner on each step.

Interesting shape and beautiful render btw.

Have you been cheating a bit with the lens flare?

Thanks for the hints, I am persevering somewhat with Topmod.  As for Lens flare, that's all built in effects with Octane, no post, all I did was convert from png to jpg to reduce the file size a bit.

Makes me like Octane even more! I see you're on the way to become a master with Wings 3D - I never got useful bits out of it - will watch your tutorials!

Octane is very lovely, only downside, my office gets a bit warm rendering in Octane and Bryce at the same time!  And probably my 'lecky bills will go up.

Unlikely, I am not signed into an agreement with youtube or google so as to keep my tutorials free of adverts.  I just need to work harder at my day job!

Your shape is amazing, it's the first time i see something like this created with topmod, excellent work

Topmod is very unstable on all computer also the Mac version is very sensitive, but when you know that it's easy to manage, save every steep of your work when you use filter

Thank you.  Yes it seems to me with Topmod, you are only ever one click away from a freeze.

I like what Topmod can do when it is not crashing.  Just need to figure out how to do the same thing in Wings3D.
