Actually that little beast was highly regarded by front line troop as a small but powerful general workhorse. It was used extensively to move infantry anti-tank guns, transport supplies in rough terrain and on airfields throughout all theaters.
After the war it was sold commercially in several countries and was well thought of and sought after by less wealthy farmers and those lively in less developed regions. It was easy to maintain, cheap, rugged and simple to operate. In many respects they were the original ATV for personal use.
"Pseudo-functional"? Not really even if they do look a bit odd at first glance.

Perhaps, but to me, it just comes off as another European track vehicle with out enough room for the the crew (Renault UE, Komsomolyets, Vickers Armstrong Utility Tractor). That and the annoying cooing of the 3rd Reich fanboys who love anything German designed.

I do see your point but as a 22 year veteran of the USMC and several combat tours I respect all who served their country excepting only those who took their fanatical ideology to extremes such as the SS or Soviet Speznats. The only real winners I know of are those who survived the conflict and can hold their head up without dishonor.
Oh and the Kettenkrad was never intended to carry more than the driver and a small cargo as well as towing a trailer.
