Excellent series! I'm a big fan of your work - I wanted to take your class, as I live near the zoo, but couldn't come up with the cash and couldn't convince the office to cover it. Ah well.

Yeah that's great - be sure to drop me a note if that happens. I work at Thinkwell Design & Production as an artist and set designer. A lot of the artists there are from feature, you may have crossed paths with a few..

ahh thinkwell!! I was interviewed there awhile back..while still @Cartoon Network but never touched base after that initial meeting..It was more of a meet and greet and we like your work...if we go this way we'll call you...All good...but liked what I heard...dont remember the guys names I met with

Yes indeed! I asked around - from what I was told you made quite a buzz! Apparently people were pretty intimidated that you were able to present published books along with a portfolio. I was still in New York City when you must have interviewed, but others remember it.

I like the looseness in your lines David, especially the one on the bottom right. Where the lines twirl around each other to represent his shoe.

Hope you been doing well bro.

Did he switch stances?

That center bottom one looks really odd. The one between the sitting and standing poses. It looks more like a martial arts pose.

he is constantly moving.... ... in terms of what the pose is...well..I just use whats there and push it

You know? i recently aquired a book. Dynamic force for animators, it is a great book and all i saw in there i see in your work, The human body is always full of dynamism and force and i feel the same here in your work, you are really good with the human structure and it shows. I take my hat and bow sir.

davidsdoodles In reply to ledain [2008-12-18 06:18:57 +0000 UTC]

thank you for noticing that,..I put in a lot of time on my fundamental skills....drawing from life and understanding structure, form.life and posing....along w/anatomy...although my anatomical knowledge is limited.....
once you get that all done the possibilities are endless...

who si the author....Mike Matessi?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ledain In reply to davidsdoodles [2008-12-18 08:49:57 +0000 UTC]

yeah, Michael D. Matessi is the author, i am hoping to improve my skills with the knowledge in it.
The book really changed my way of seeing the action lines and force direction.
I belive noone has the FULL knowledge of anatomy, after all the body is a machine full of surprises, but your work shows a big deal of understandment and dedication.
