Description
this is a commission for of his golden Gryphon Azanya.It took me quite a long time to do (mainly the feathers) and im still not massively happy with it.
still, hope you like it
time taken - couple weeks on and off
handsketched then PhotoshopCS to colour, witht he exception to the background which was built and rendered in Bryce5
P.S. I hate how my preview pic is so small
please fullviewedit2- why is it in the manga category 0_o i keep moving it into fantasy and it keeps going back into manga!

theres lots of better ones than mine^^ and and and and others draw them alot better than me^^ im still very much learning.
I had a very detailed description to work with, sometimes a detailed description can be a good thing, some people dont like them as then there isnt much room for the artists own style, but like in this case they are also good
The person who commissioned this, wanted it to be golden with wings that reflected light, so thats what I did
I think I made the clouds using several brushes with slightly different shades and adding colour through see through layers

So how did you do those glamorous sunlight beams of different colors? Think you can tell me?

Using layers and the line tool on photoshop, to make white shapes in the shape of sunbeams, and then making them transparent, and then using a very large soft brush adding colours to them

You are so welcome! I have a gryphon (guy) in the book I've been hard at work on and I think your gryphon is the one I would most like that part of his character to look like! Of course I know it is someone else's character.

ooooh woww those pictures are gorgeous! I love gypsy horses i think they are so beautiful. When ive actually graduated from my degree and get my money back on track id love to own a stud with shire horses and gypsy horses. I just love them. My shire was 18.2hh and a dream to ride, I loved it when i could feel he wanted to gallop, and would take him down to a long stretch I knew and he would get so excited, and then I would hold tight and give him the signal, and he would tear off at full gallop, it was so nice, and he was so powerful.

Quite nice, davuu! My only complaint would be that the placement of the head seems a little off-center, but other than that...it looks wonderful!

cant see what you mean about the head^^ its not dead centre because its head is twisted to the side abut to swoop down.

Oh yes, I see what you were trying to convey, but there's just...something about the placement of the head that makes it look as if it is turned a little too far to the left, for some reason. Oh well. Perhaps it's just me? Eheh. *blushes*

That is so amazing! I love how beautiful the face is and how detailed the wings are. Nice effect with the light silhouetted against the wings. Great work!

I wasnt sure about the light rays, as I had to play with them alot, as because Azanya is golden, and the white of the wings reflect the light, he wanted coloured rays of light coming from the gryph but it looked a bit too much so i made them little more subtle,
hopefully he will still like it
