Yeah.... I know that just about EVERYTHING anatomy-wise is wrong... and shading-wise... I got that covered, don't worry xD I needed to draw something fancy to take to my art allstate interview in a couple weeks, so I did whipped this up over vacation. The background is not final, and I dislike it--so any suggestions for a better background...?Related content

Hmmm... not much I can say. You astound me with your background skillz as much as usual.
But I agree with what Dizzy-cat says. Right now the picture is just kinda "oohh pretty dragon"... it needs to be more "WHAM! THIS IS A FREAKING PRETTY DRAGON! WHOA!" It is for allstates.
So maybe bring the dragon out of the background more? He kinda blends in... and I'm not smart enough to know how to do that. Maybe make the sunlight reflecting off him a little brighter? *shrug*
But I LOVE the wings! Nice job on the translucency/colors!
And that is my almost useless help. It's basically all been said already.

Ah wow, that quite a sight alright!
I really like your choice of colors I must say. The sunset approach really adds in a feel that is both dramatic and serene. Plus that smooth green shading on the grass below and the shadow the dragon casts also adds a bit of the atmosphere, your color choice is juuuust right.
The amount of detail is pretty stunning really, especially on the dragon's scales there. The transparency effect with the wings is also a nice touch, and as such I can imagine it had to have been a bit tough to work out. May I ask what program you used to create this?

the only think i could think of is instead of gras havign a more barren landscape would bring the colours of the dragon out moe.

I personally like the background. Something about the color scheme just seems quite appealing to me.
