Interesting that, even though the Romans had arches, the Egyptians never adopted them. Traditionalists, or what?

The Egyptians had arches, long before the Romans, it seems, but they were mainly used in grain stores and such like. Notably the granaries at the Ramesseum. There are also occasionally tombs with free-standing arched gateways, such as that of Mentuemhat (TT34).

Maybe they never realized the greater strength of the arch. Look at the number of pillars in that rendering of yours, and in the famous Hypostyle Hall at Karnak.
