I must say, seeing the original sketch of this and now seeing this colored, I can really say this is a very intriguing cast of characters here, all standing proud and looking good as gold!
Also, looking back from the doodles you did beforehand and comparing to the modern looks, I'd say that everyone went through a major overhaul as far as details and such! You did a great job here =3

Awww, thanks very much!
Yup, Spencer's a rat. Hopefully, his pointy nose and thick tail are an indication of that - not to mention he's rather scruffy.
I certainly wanted to have a rat be a goody for once. He may be pretty unpolished - untidy, unwashed and lacking table manners - but all his qualities lie beneath the surface.
Of course, the same applies to Frederick - in the Redwall stories, all the weasels, stoats and ferrets are baddies - and I was tired of that trend, so years ago Frederick was developed as first an imaginary friend and eventually as Danbuster's sensible sidekick... a foil for Danbuster's comic-idiocy.
And Thoronraw was certainly a unique sort of addition. I think it started out with one of those "Build your own gryphon" interactive Flash things I saw a few years ago, when these "dress-up" or "character builder" Flashes were kind of a thing for a while.
But I decided, hey... Retsy needs a friend, mode of transport (like Danbuster has his eagle-friend Marquila) and a counterpart for Frederick.
Actually, on the subject of dragons, Danbuster himself recently acquired his own dragon-guardian as well... though with the way things are in the world today, she has to keep a low profile...

Heh, thanks very much!
Yeah, seems they matured? Dan and Retsy acquiring a bit of chin-fuzz, for instance...
They're certainly not as one-dimensional as they were.
Danbuster is the natural leader of his group, but he too needs Frederick's sensible influence and Spencer's smarts. Frederick is also the team-muscle thanks to his early life being raised by an otter foster-family. Spencer on the other hand is physically weak, though quick on his feet and able to use that to his advantage, in addition to being naturally cunning.
The Dan Clan work as a team, each complimenting their strengths and weaknesses, and are actually quite successful crimefighters... basically the sort of civilian gang of misfits who do their bit and always muddle through somehow...
On Team Retsubnad, the wizard-hare is very much the driving force, being a very powerful wizard after years of experience. Wally isn't really a fighter, but he does his best to slow them down - though even Spencer can easily beat him in a fight. Thoronraw tries to serve his Master without really hurting anybody, preferring restraining holds as a means of stopping an opponent - even so, the young gryphon is still a formidable fighter. He's also very much Frederick's counterpart in being Retsy's voice of reason.
Retsubnad basically desires to be respected, as well as to clean up the mess the politicians have made of running the world.

Your welcome. *snerk* Haha, chin fuzz...
I think its funny how the muscle of your group isn't the tallest member. Plus Frederick looks almost like a stereotypical book-nerd, so again, him being the muscle of the group is quiet funny. And Spencer's so cute (I still remember him from that one vid you did, I loved the voice and actions for him). But they're like vigilantes, then? Sweet. What's their occupations when they're not fighting crime?
*snerk* So Retsy is like a villain with noble goals, then, huh? Interesting... Though I can understand Spencer being able to beat Wally up, given how much of a shrimp the little weasel is. Thoronraw sounds like an interesting character, though. I love that its a gryphon of all creatures acting as the voice of reason on the bad guy's team. Seriously, there's need to be more gryphons/griffins in the media, I say! They're such cool beasts.

Well, I tend to have jaggy lines for the fur, but as a friend of mine observed, the rough line of Dan's jaw kind of looks like he's getting a bit of a goatee like me... so hey, why not go with it!
Indeed, Frederick's quite a reader - well, they all read books, of course...
But Frederick is certainly the one with the library card... and that led to his meeting Felicity Bookstamp the librarian...
Yeah, Spencer's a sweet little guy really.
As for their everyday life, I always figured they were cartoonists who retell the stories of their own adventures.
Retsubnad is perhaps a well-intentioned extremist, yes...
And of course, Wally's only main strengths are his persuasive tongue and his loyalty to Retsy. As a person, he's very weak and submissive - he'd do anything for Retsy, though... happy to serve under him...
And indeed, Thoronraw... I guess he just fell in with the wrong crowd? Though yeah, Retsy's not really a bad guy deep down and the gryphon knows that - otherwise he wouldn't serve him.
