This is really great man. I like how you did it without using any black outlines, just using different color shades, works well.

Thanks man, yeah this has been my project over the last couple days. It's hard to do these in one shot, between measuring things out, and matching colors. I can only stare at it for an hour to two hours at a time.

Fair enough, i find its best not to spent too long on piece at a time anyway, when you look at your work fresh the next morning or a few hours later, you can spot the flaws and good parts of the drawing. At least i seem to find this, though i do tend to spend a good few hours drawing at a time when i get into it.

Yep that's when you find yourself still working on things at 3am.

Oh god, many memories haha. I'm thinking i'll end up spending many many hours on my Orlando Bloom portrait tomorrow, got the whole day free for drawing.

It's kind of funny, every time I have a day off or plenty of time to do something, that's when I get the least amount done.

Hm yeah i think i agree to this, most likely because those days where you have the day to yourself, all you really want to do is have a good old lazy day and do nothing hah.

Well that's good I thought I was the only one. I always feel guilty the entire day.

Haha nah i feel the same, i guess a good break is good (as we've proved with me) as long as you don't become lazy all the time.

It's safe to say I have at least been less lazy the last few months. I had this DA account for a year, and last month I decided to use it. Although it seems like a lot in a month and a half.

Yeah you have quite alot of good work in your gallery, if thats only from the last month or so then thats great. I used to be quite... not really lazy but side-tracked. I never really knew what i wanted to draw so it always discouraged me from drawing even though i really wanted to draw. I think now i'd just matured and willing to spend hours on a drawing to get it as perfect as i can.. i guess actually loving what your doing is the key to keep you persevering through everything and progressing as much as possible.

Definitely have to love it, plus I realized lately running out of things to do is impossible. The world is filled with references, and we cant let lack of something to do slow us down any longer.

Indeed, even just drawing a cup or lamp which happens to be on your desk, its all practice. Nearly completed my third WIP of Orlando Bloom, taken around 3-4 hours each section, going to be around 30+ hours to finish this..

Thanks, yeah I'm really quite dreading the hair, as thats usually my downfall, but i think i've created the facial hair quite realistic at the moment so if i just use what i've done with that onto the hair, i think ill be fine.
So what's your next project to work on?

Sounds good. You could try render parts of them realistically once they are finished, perhaps the water or sails of the ship, just an idea anyway.

I would really like to get that water down realistic. I am thinking a real misty night with moon.
