"General Tullius, the Dragonborn already controls all of Skyrim's major institutions and much of the land! We can't just hand her the province on a silver platter!"
"Are you kidding me? Have you seen what she did to Alduin?"

"... general Tullius, with all due respect, she has been ignoring Alduin for YEARS. Frankly, I think she has forgotten he even exists. Marvelous smith though."

"This is why you're only a legate, Rikke. See, over the last few years she has gained a monopoly on weapons production in this province. She's charging us and Ulfric outrageous rates, of course, but she doesn't sell at all to Alduin's draugr army! Every scout I send into ancient Nord burial crypts comes back with swords that are held together by no more than glue and prayers. They're running out of weapons to fight us with, and once his draugr are disarmed, Alduin has nothing left to throw at us but his own claws and breath. And that's before we factor in his inevitable need for claw files and dental crowns ..."

*Rikke proceeds to back away slowly* Maybe it's just Skyrim getting to Tullius. This is not what he signed up for.

I'm starting to think that maybe people who become Arch-Mage die very sudden deaths shortly after being chosen, and that is why everyone are super eager to get you, who know nothing of this dreadful curse, to take the position.

I just like to shoot stuff in the face with my arrows, not... fry them. My only frequent higher-than-novice spell is a Flame Atronoch I used as Giant-Bait before I could kill them in two hits XD (Now It's reduced to Dragon Priest bait <.<;a)
Hawke Dragonborn the Khajit is totally not fit for a position of Power :l *Yes, Yes I went there. o3o* (I also have a Nord called Aveline.. she's the Exact opposite of the lady she was named after XD)

Seems legit. I think the ONLY time I used spells during that quest line was when I absolutely had to to move forward. I was teh most epic archmage EVAR. Don't think the mages appreciated their new heavy armor though...

To be fair, the odds are you will just murder him if he doesn't make you the head
you get a free room but you have to pay out the ass for everything else, so it's like nothing changed
He gets to keep living, the mages guild has a leader for tax exempt status (I think that's how it works), and you get a fancy title
everyone wins.

Ddriana In reply to deathstrikesquirrel [2013-08-03 10:22:33 +0000 UTC]
That makes me question why the former arch-mage had the title.

In Tolfdir's defense, if I were in a position to become head of a place that everyone in Winterhold hates and that's probably only a few years of falling into the sea, I wouldn't want the job either.

Ddriana In reply to Thejboy88 [2013-07-24 20:01:40 +0000 UTC]
True, yet under Danaerys Dragonborn's negligent rule it shall likely crumble into the sea a little faster, and take the last of Winterhold with it.

I think that the Bards are the smartest out of all the groups, they don't have any overly complicated quests, they don't make you their leader, and the only thing they do is ask you for favors after you finish the quest to join them. Really, the rest of Skyrim could learn from them.
On another note, does it seem like the people of Skyrim are just as dumb? They react to the DB when there's no armor on, but when it comes to Stormcloak armor in Imperial cities, Imperial armor in Stormcloak cities, Forsworn armor, and Dark Brotherhood armor, no reaction, not even a single guard tries to arrest you.

Ddriana In reply to ShibaNaganori [2013-07-24 20:03:14 +0000 UTC]
It is a sad day when the bards are the shining examples others should learn from, truly.
Β
More than a little dumb, I'd say. These are the people that are ok with you rummaging through the clothes they are wearing as long as you don't take anything.

ShibaNaganori In reply to Ddriana [2013-07-25 05:27:52 +0000 UTC]
So. Yeah. I tried rummaging through the bards' clothes, and they did not like that...at all. The bards truly are the smartest people in all of Skyrim.

EXACTLY! I tried to get my Nord barbarian to use robes and spells, but when he was fighting Ancano he just said screw it and cut off the elf's head with his ebony warhammer. I don't even know how he managed to cut things with a blunt weapon.... maybe that was the magic the mages were so impressed about?

Haha I was so lost during the final fight there. My mace didn't seem to be able to hit anything, so I was unsure if I was supposed to use the staff, and on what, and it was blind luck that the fight ended at some point because I fumbled around horribly XD

I remember right before I I used the Staff's entire charge on the guy, and then unloaded the flamethrower spell until I was out of magicka, and I swear I only took down 10% of his health. I'm a terrible mage
....
something tells me that we're better off joining the Companions and the Dawnguard. Moar hack n' slash!

Indeed, the people of Skyrim so lack the knowledge on how to look up a persons record... main reason why the listener of the Dark Brotherhood became the Harbringer of the Companions... with Cicero dancing around them...
