interesting design, i can see how it could make irreparable damage and would ripp off any leather armorΒ

Thanks! It was a bit of a long process to explain here but the short story is the blade parts we cut from a large gear, welded to a thick piece of pipe for the handle attachment. I ground it down and sanded it smooth, then took a round file to the inner parts of the gear teeth to sharpen it down. then i engraves the blade by drawing it with a sharpie then using a dremmel to engrave it. then made the handle out a chunk of Ash (if i remember right) then shaped it down and attached it. then again with the sharpie and engraved the pattern in the handle with the dremmel. I have since stained the handle to darken it a bit. And now it sits in my livingroom waiting for the Zombie Apocalypse haha. if you have any other questions or details let me know.

That is beautiful, but is it functional? If those blades were a gear, they would be very hard, but inclined to snap under pressure. And how much dose it weigh? I built a battle axe out of the cutting disks from a john deer corn planter, and it weighed in at over seven pounds. That's a lot of weight to swing around on the end of a stick.

Thanks, It is functional to a point. the gear was pot steel so it was difficult to weld and probably wouldn't hold up very well to hard contact, but would do well on flesh and bone haha. really though, this one is on the heavier side, a little over 6 pounds i think, but i can swing it around a bit. for future axes i'll stick with hardened steel. i just had the gear and had the idea so i went ahead with it.

I started out with a large old gear, I then cut two secections out of it. Then welded those to a section of pipe i flattened out a bit to serve as the handle mount. i did tons of grinding and sanding.
i used a round file to accentuate the grooves in the blade side and polished and engraved it. then added the handle, and did the carving.

that looks really wicked.
Did you craft this yourself?
if so, how did you go about making it?

Really awesome ^^

Thanks. yes i did craft it myself, but i did use a gear for part of it. first with getting the idea from the gear, i made the center part to mount it, then i cut off the sections of the gear and welded them to the mount. after that it was alot of work to get it to where it is now.

Ah I see.
After comenting, I took a peek at your other works and saw several WIPΒ΄s from this axe. So from those I kinda got a preview of how you made it.
Again, nice job
