Description Well it's been a while since I have taken any photos of the old Duff dog. He was my guinea pig after getting my new 55mm f1.8 lens. Thought maybe I should see what it could do before shooting the wedding with it.

Great DOF and a wonderful look and pose from your guinea pig. I hope he got a doggie treat for behaving and modelling so well

Awww! He's so cute! My best friend from childhood had a boxer (named Daxi), and that was the look we always got when we were eating, because he wanted some too!

Boxers have wonderful personalities. If only they weren't so gassy....

That's great I still can't figure out how to get things on an angle like that with the subjects face looking straight... are you able to give me a hint, I tilt my head different ways and look at pictures like this and for some reason it just doesn't sink in

I am just one of those really gifted photographers. Actualy I mean that in the sense that a lot of the photos I get are gifted to me, I don’t plan them they just happen. I purposely angled the camera then I made a noise and he tipped his head and I shot. I just wanted him looking at me the head tip was just luck.

I suppose if you wanted to do this on purpose I angled the camera with my right hand high and the left hand low. Duff tipped his head to his left. An easy way to remember would be to have your subject tip their head to what ever direction is high and that will make them look straight. For instance if your right hand is high they will tip their head to your right, their left.

HTH and I don’t have it all backwards. In that case just reverse everything I said.

lol You are gifted... and not just by luck!!!! Thank you for sharing that tip though, I've been trying to figure that out for a long time, I'll have to give it a try for sure if I can get a willing subject
