Have you ever wondered what it'd be like if you tried out other genres of story? This Meme is to help promote trying new things! Turn your characters into a science fiction, galactic warhero! Turn them into a knight to retrieve the holy grail! Uncover the life of a western sheriff! Join a mafia and fight for street survival! The possiblities are endless. Pick an Original Character (Or anyone else for that matter) and let them get a taste for the rest of the universe. The possibilities are endless! Just be sure to show it to me if you end up doing my meme!

Q: What is Steampunk?
Refer to the Wikipedia Article! Basically Steampunk is the answer to "What if we used steam instead of fossil fuels?" Everyone will be British, everyone will look wealthy, everyone will look born in the 1800's, and everyone will have overly complex robotic machinery to do even the most mundane tasks. Black, gold, silver and copper are common colors within the genre. There is a close relative to Steampunk, called Cyberpunk, which is in the future, and said future tends to be a very dark, dystopian world. Putting it simple. Steampunk is where technology has made the world a better place. Cyberpunk is where technology damaged it out of control.

Q: What is Educational?
This has been widely misunderstood from my original intention; not to say that this is a bad thing, I simply did not expect it. When I made this section I was thinking of television shows for very little kids. Shows like Sesame Street , Blues Clues , Dora the Explorer , etc. Many entries have interpreted this section as making teachers, professors, scientists, doctors, and other careers dependent on learning. You're preference to the meaning is purely up to you. If you're a fan of House , Scrubs , or just want to be a Kindergarden Cop by all means! So long as you are having fun!

Q: Why did you make this meme?
Perhaps not exactly a frequently asked question, but I would like to share why exactly I made this. I'm very proud of how many people I've inspired to do this meme; redesigning your character to new experiences I believe truly helps flesh out said character! I'm not positive about this, but I believe this has became a great source of wardrobe inspiration! But I write this because I want to challenge the future meme fillers even further:

Anyone can design a Western. Genres are a basic construct of the universe a story takes place in. Likewise, anyone can design a Cowboy (or Cowgirl) as the main role. What I would like to push, however, is what other roles can a character do within the western? Perhaps our young hero is a showgirl in the taverns. Perhaps our hero is a dreaded outlaw. Perhaps our hero... is just a horse. Just because it's a western doesn't mean you need to create a cowboy to illustrate this genre. Firefly had a very western role, and it didn't have a single "cowboy" in the whole show! Which leads me to another point~

Genres are sadly becoming so easily recognized today that it is turning boring to the common eye. Firefly, to my knowledge, was one of the most popular Science Fictional Genres to incorporate concepts of the Wild West. Nowadays, intermixing Genres is a way to spark new life into a concept or idea. While you are filling out this meme, consider what other genre might give your story a twist. Perhaps you have a Horror Western, where a wandering, undead outlaw runs rampant. Or an Educational Western, where the teacher isn't from our modern time. Once you cross genres you get a spark of creativity and open a new interpretation no one has ever thought before.

That is why I made this meme.

Have you considered what other genres you could incorporate into your world? Maybe, not stop there. Perhaps you made a Mysterious Horror Western. Perhaps you made a Western with Mysterious Super Heroes and Science Fictional robots with blood pirates that are actually Fantasy vampires that could also have great Educational value to the audience... as an Anime.

That last one might have been too much. But if you think you can do it... go for it! I believe in you!
