Description
1 Groundwork (1st "lose jumping")

...Previous...

On stiff legs and head and neck tense he walked closer, prepared for anything and everything. The older horse followed calmly behind him with his head held low. He didn’t seem scared…yet… This thing…what ever it was…was odd…what if it ate…foals? Ace tried to sweet talk whatever the thing was with some smooth foal chewing, but it just stood there, not moving. It was like…two small trees without leaves…with an odd looking branch going between them. It didn’t have a color of a normal tree either. As Ace came even closer he nosed at it from a distance, very, very carefully. It had a faint scent of wood and something other, slightly stronger, something with a more tingly scent filling his nose. It tickled and made him sneeze. The colt shook his head after he had rubbed his nose against a foreleg, and flicked his ear back some and then looked back at the chestnut gelding. He didn’t seem worried. Now the grown horse walked pass him and all the way to the strange thing and… Ace widened his eyes; he touched it with his nose! Actually touched it!

A short time later, he had touched the wooden thing too, with a little guidance and assurance from the chestnut. He nosed at both the upright wannabe tree trunks and the weird branch, and he felt mighty proud over himself. He was just as big and brave as his uncle. It was at that moment Ben surprised him again by jumping over the weird thing. It wasn’t the jumping itself that surprised him though… He had jumped over things before…like chickens for example…but that wasn’t such a popular item to jump over apparently…but it wasn’t his fault they couldn’t stand still…nor that they behaved like he would eat them, cackling and dropping all their weird fur like that….he was just…going to play with them a little bit. Surely it wasn’t any harm in that? Right?

But apparently it was…the chicken’s opinion about his fun about jumping over them was shared with the tall twolegged female with the black mane…and she clearly didn’t see the fun in it or thought it a good idea. Most likely the chickens squealed on him…or perhaps in their case – cackled. She usually put a rope around his neck and sometimes, if he made a little fuss as she called it, she put it around his rump too just so she could get him moving. Then, just like that, while ignoring his attempts to tell her it was really the chickens fault after and not his, she took him back to the fenced grass square where his mother was. Didn’t she know how much time it took to wiggle under it? She nudged him in there saying he was a naughty boy. Pft! He had then overheard her talking to a short male about putting up a “thread” at the bottom of the fence. Pft! Like a little thread could stop him. He had nosed at spider webs before; his mother had told him that it was a collection of threads spiders used to get their food. He wondered how though…all good they did was getting stuck and ticklish in your whiskers.

Carefully he pawed the thing. It didn’t make a sound, just stood there like nothing happened. It didn’t even cackle nor run away, only wiggled a little bit. Glancing towards the other horse he saw him nodding. Perhaps he could jump this thing too…and hopefully it wouldn’t cackle and make noise…

I love how far Ben is overjumping He's like "Why the heck is this so low?" As I've said plenty of times before, you did a wonderful job on this! I love the details as well as the horses, themselves, and Ace's little determined "I'm not scared...right?" face, hehe.

Im somewhat "traditional" when I color, I havent done a tut since I dont really see myself as "that good" at it...I start with flatcolors though...and then go from light to dark.

There is one step - by step of a human somewhere...might be HARPG misc I think...

thank you

thank you...hopefully he will be a good one...even tho both parents are dressage horses or daddy at least...mom got injured and is pature ornament...a very...orny ornament altho...there was actually a dressagebred SWB that made a success as a jumper...an approved stallion even cant recall the name tho....

Maybe if there is dressage in his blood he might be a good 3DEr. Mom looks great, with the foal; she might have found her calling of being a fabulous broodmare.
