Description SPOILER WARNING! Contains some plot revelations about Dragon Age -Origins ending.
***********************************************

Alistair: "... and that's not the only reason. You know how I feel about you. I won't let you die, not if I can do something about it."

Leonora: "No, I won't let you die either, Alistair."

Alistair: "You say that as if I'm giving you a choice."

Leonora: " I thought you would say so... STEN!"

The big Qunari warrior suddenly appeared from the background and with cautious but firm grip he restrained Alistair.

Alistair: " What!? Let me go!"

Leonora: " No Alistair, he won't. Don't you see. They need you. There must be a king and becoming a king is your fate. Now you must let me to fulfill mine."

Alistair: "No... You can't... I won't... I..."

Leonora: "Farewell, my love."

Leonora turned. She looked bitter and sad but the glance she set to the archdemon was also determined and hard. She was ready...
...

Okay, A long description that was. And all this sparkled from the fact that if you and Alistair are in love, there are nothing you could say to prevent him sacrificing himself for your sake at the end. Then I started to ponder possible ways how he could be stopped and I thought of Sten. He is a qunari warrior and has very strict honor code. He also respected Leonora much so I started to think that Leonora could ask Sten to stop Alistair and doing so be able to kill the archdemon herself.
Okay, I have clearly too much time to spare...

God, I was so mad that I couldn't stop him from sacrificing himself (I also had him fall in love with me), I restarted the last mission so many times to see if there was a way to stop him.

Well, that was my main reason to do this picture too. If not possible in the game I could at least stop him in my own drawing.
Saddly the only way to prevent it in the game (if he is in love with you) is left him in the Denerim gate (or accept Morrigan's offer).

Thanks for the comment and watch too.

haha yeh, but I wanted to try and find a way without leaving out of the party or morrigans offer, i guess its just a sentimental thing, but I ALWAYS had Alistair in my party XD hes my favourite character hands down.

Alistair is one of my favorite party members too and with Leonora I also had to restart the game when he went and "ruined" my change of glorious self sacrifise. I had so planned it down and then, when the time comes, Alistair rushes to his death and gives you no change whatsoever to stop him. I was just like: " But... but... YOU IDIOT! It was ment to be ME!!!!"

Great to hear as when I drawed this picture, I wanted it to "radiate" powerfull feelings. And Sten... he has always been one of my favorite companions in this game. He was also first one who went to full 100% in approval diameter with Leonora. And because he and Leonora where so close friends and Sten honored her very much, I thought that he would do her bidding in this matter.

Wow, really? He was the hardest to get 100% for. I can't believe he's not a courtable character : ( You've really hit the mark with this one, I hope to see more of your work!

So it has been said but when I played Leonora (my first playing character by the way) it seemed that she and Sten where on the "same track" so to speak. Instinctively (or by pure luck ) I went with those dialog options which made him approve Leonora. Of course returning his sword to him gives much approval so that quest is important to do if you want Sten to like your character.

I too think that Sten would have been interesting love interest -character. Fortunately we at least have his banter with Morrigan about the ... well, you know

Although I have drawn very much Dragon Age, I have drawn Sten only few times. Besides this one he appears in both of my DA comics; "Ascension" and "Against the odds". But he has only very little "screen time" in both. At least so far. Against the odds is still unfinished.

What i really enjoy when i play Dragon Age is that i always learn something new about my Sten. When you're a different race, there are subtle changes in what he says and depending on who you have in the party will determine what he'll reveal about either himself or his race, it's really a delight! As for the banter with Morrigan, i've only ever seen that on youtube. I really can't stand her lol.

does this really happen in the game????????????

DeepWoodian In reply to demongal109 [2010-09-12 07:01:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, not exactly. I am not sure have you already played this part of the game and I wouldn't want to spoil you but as you asked...

Only the three first dialog lines are from the actual game. The part of Sten restraining Alistair is my idea.

I did play the game numerous of times but I always leave alistair behind because he always scraficed himself to save me. I swear the first time he did that I cried I'm like "no alistair you idiot I'm suppose to die your suppose to live and be king T^T" but awww that really should have been put in the game. It looks great !! ^^

DeepWoodian In reply to demongal109 [2010-09-12 09:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Well, then our experiences are quite similar as I too made that "mistake" by taking Alistair along with my first play through. I had planned my glorious (Cailan effect ) sacrifice to the detail and then he goes and kills himself. And I am like: What... no... you fool... stop!!!

It was just that experience, where nothing I said could affect Alistairs decision, which made me think the ways how he could be stopped. And from there the idea of use Sten to hold him appeared.

And thanks for adding this to your favorites.

DeepWoodian In reply to Albaharu [2010-07-14 07:41:15 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, it all originated from the fact that I (Leonora) would have been wanted to be the one who sacrifices herself.

Albaharu In reply to DeepWoodian [2010-07-14 19:33:11 +0000 UTC]

when i want to sacrifice myself, i just dont bring alistair with me e__e
Is another option XD

DeepWoodian In reply to Albaharu [2010-07-15 06:55:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, this happened during my first play through ever and after that I have not taken Alistair with me to the final battle. So you might say that I learned it in the hard way.

StravenLite [2010-07-12 16:22:05 +0000 UTC]

That's a dang good idea! I wish they had that option. I usually leave Alistair behind cause it bothers me to have him die at the end!

Overall, great emotional scene! I enjoyed it!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeepWoodian In reply to StravenLite [2010-07-14 07:39:46 +0000 UTC]

Yep, if only there would have been that option (or some other way). Now I only could stare (and look stupid) as he rushed to his death. And I had so planned my glorious sacrifice. He ruined it all. And the worst thing... They made Anora the queen.

Since then I too have left Alistair out of the last battle.

And finally many thanks for commenting and for your praising words.

Good idea.

You're welcome. You deserved them.

If you only could have done so during the final battle. That damned Alistair "robbed" my glorious sacrifice from me and went and killed himself. I just stood there and was like... Hey!... Wait!... Stop!...

YES! I was soooo upset when I couldn't stop Alistair from sacrificing himself. I went on a huge rant the whole day, ranging from being sad of his death and being ridiculously angry he wouldn't let me look the selfless hero. xD

DeepWoodian In reply to XxSillyGirlxX [2010-03-20 13:31:39 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, my thoughts exactly. If you happen to read my journal entry "Totally irrelevant rant about Dragon Age -Origins" then you see that I too was so ready to sacrifice myself and then Alistair wen't and killed himself. This picture was created in the aftermath of that.

And thanks for adding this one to your faves too. Really appreciated.

As if I would be stopped by a spoiler-warning. Since I don't play, that makes it okay.
I like the emotional drama you've created between the three. Frightened and concerned, though and slightly worried and the somewhat sad determination. She knows what horrors she's facing but nothing's going to stop her. Aahh... Isn't destiny wonderful?

Also... got to love girls in heavy armour. That isn't exacly a common feature an fantasy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeepWoodian In reply to Loulin [2010-02-15 19:54:29 +0000 UTC]

I thought as much that you wouldn't be stopped by that. It is just there so that I have something to defend myself if some DA fan(atic) blames me for spoiling his/hers playing fun.

Destiny is indeed a wonderful thing, although not always what we expect. If you happened to read my irrelevant DA rant in the journal (the one before latest entry) you noticed that everything wasn't going as I had planned in the first play through. Fate intervened. Hehe!

And those were indeed the emotions which I tried to express with Leonora, Alistair and Sten. Glad that I have succeeded.

And those heavy armors. I think that I maybe have some kind of armor fetish. I just love to draw armors (and especially women with armors ). In that aspect (that too) Dragon Age is a fantastic game as there are plenty of light, medium, and heavy armors which do look good but are still also realistic looking. No wonder then that I dressed Leonora with the most heavy armor which I had accuired.

Well... You do warn people ahead so if they don't want the spoilers, they don't need to look, right?

Ah... Panu's confessions. So it's heavy armour that does it for you then?

DeepWoodian In reply to Loulin [2010-02-16 16:37:27 +0000 UTC]

Well, you could possible say that. Although I don't demand my lady friends to wear
steel plate.

Loulin In reply to DeepWoodian [2010-02-17 17:38:56 +0000 UTC]

Hehe... Thank goodness for that. Though I do have a mental picture in my head that refuses to leave of a guy trying to offer his date a heavy steel plate armour with a geeky but hopeful expression.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeepWoodian In reply to Loulin [2010-02-18 06:56:47 +0000 UTC]

Something like:
Oh, I have here something nice I would like to see you wear...
*expects some sexy underwear*
*gets a shiny steel plate*

But even I am NOT that geeky.

Now, perhaps I should stop before I ruin my last hopes to get dates with ladies.
