Description I really hope I'm not getting late with this... but it's still Tuesday according to my time, so I think I made it. I'll try to be a bit quicker for the next week, though. So that I wouldn't upload my thing on the last day... again. ;-;

Time and again, I got distracted and busy and had to push something into the last minute. I should really work on my procrastinating habit. I really don't want to worry anyone for delays like these... but procrastination habits aside... the first theme for the challenge's first week was butterflies! When I first received my butterfly, I was a teeny-tiny bit disappointed because it wasn't a daytime butterfly, but a moth. As most know, moths usually have plainer patterns than the daytime butterflies. But that disappointment faded away as quickly as it came - I took a closer look and saw the beautiful Oleander Hawk Moth, which is a brilliant moth with a very uncommon green pattern. Most moths have yellow, beige or gray colour variations instead. Even a bigger plus is that it's Arrellin's favourite butterfly, and with a clearer mind, I could easily understand why. It has a marble-like pattern on its wings (like Arrellin pointed out) and I love it a lot. I realised that it would be a bit difficult to recreate though... so I carefully thought it through before creating the outfit. I was sure of one thing though... because I really like flowing dresses, Adelaide had to wear a prom-style dress this time too! I wouldn't want it to be as simple as her introduction dress though... so I quickly searched for the shapes I needed. I found that these sleeves go really well with the long skirt! Butterflies are really graceful and fragile creatures and I wanted to reflect that on Adelaide too. I thought of the hairstyle beforehand, however - I wanted it to resemble a butterfly's antennae a bit... even though the oleander hawk moth doesn't seem to have very visible antennae. But I just felt that it was a necessary addition to put Adelaide's hairstyle into harmony with her outfit. I also tried to recreate the dustiness of the hawk moth's wings... lots and lots of fluffy and soft details, with soft transitions! This was my first attempt at some more serious D&D too. And since butterflies are symmetrical... I tried to make the outfit as symmetrical as possible. Some greens should've been a little darker on this dress though... but unfortunately, the game didn't have a choice of colours that big. Still, I tried my best with what I had.

Oh, and I should mention at this point that I didn't get to do the last part of the dress's skirt because my D&D items disappeared at that part... the skirt's tail went out of the creation area's borders so... sorry for the incomplete part in that.

Still, I hope you like it!

Awesome! I love the colors that you put in to this. It really looks lovely! It looks just fabulous and I love it! The area the d&d's don't reach acutally looks like it was planned all along so you are great there. The blue looks super pretty and such a fantastic color contrast from the greens of the skirt. I love the peach sleeves. And all the shiny shimmery whites looks wonderful.

Hehe, thank you very much! I'm glad to hear it all. I really tried to give a dusty, shimmering look, like butterfly wings usually have. And the colours were of course inspired by the moth I was given.

I like the colours, all these wonderful shades of green!.. And the peach colour that you used for her sleeves, it's just the right one.
I like how you recreated these ribbon patterns!
And that blue one, probably a bit too bright, but I like that it looks like a river among the green. That makes the whole design to resemble a beautiful landscape. Most likely you didn't intend that, but anyway it looks very lovely .

I'm sorry that I'm so late with commenting. I just was thinking very carefully what to say .

I love most greens, so I enjoyed using many shades, too! Glad you think the greens and peaches are okay.
Ah, yes, the blue part is probably a tad bright... but I was focusing on the reflective part of the butterfly's wings... I really like sparkling and shining details. And like you said, somehow, the brighter blue fits. I didn't intend to make it resemble a landscape... but I think it's great that you see a landscape in that part. I can see it now too.

It's fine, I understand.

As to the bright blue, honestly I was quite surprised to see blue, since the butterfly has, among all the greens, also a bit of dark unsatured violet in its wing pattern. And I though you would rather used purple for that (as it's one of your favourite colours as well). But when I think more about it, bright blue corresponds better to the bright red of Adelaide's hair than purple would have been  .

But I understand you completely in your liking for sparkling and shining things, for I share it with you too .

Ah, well, that may be because I used a different specimen for reference than yours.
Your given specimen had darker colours and some very dark violet in its wings... but the one I chose in the end really had reflected blue in its wings, and it a lot more white and some different shades of greens. I was drawn to the brighter variant  more, because of the blue. Even though dark violet and emerald green are my favourite colours, and perfectly represented within the oleander hawk moth, they... so to say, fit together very well and thus make the colour combination seem a bit monotonous. These two colours together also give a hint of mystery, but they don't fit with Adelaide very well. Scarlet is the character whom Adelaide was inspired by. But Scarlet is a thief, and thus very secretive. Scarlet also lives in a steampunk world, which is a rather common concept of mystery and danger. Adelaide is still a different character though. I like to keep the steampunk vibes with her, but she is not a thief - she's a fashion model. Fashion models, as opposed to thieves, want to be seen. And Adelaide wants to be seen, contrary to Scarlet. So I think bright colours do fit Adelaide better, for they catch peoples' eyes. And like you said, bright blue fits red hair better than purple, too.

The bits of pinks on the top of Adelaide's sleeves were inspired by my chosen variant, too.

Gleaming details are great.

Oh, I see. So I thought. But actually this one you chose, it feels like the colours were exaggerated a lot, in comparison to the most of other photographs. Still it's undoubtedly beautiful. And taking this one as example, you did it justice .

Photography is a fickle thing. They can be manipulated a lot and the colours can vary a lot, I can agree with that. It's hard to trust a photograph seen on the Internet. The only way to really know what the butterfly's true colours are is to see it in person. But as you know, that's not so easy... some species in the wild do have rather bright, exaggerated colours though. It depends on the animal. And the specimen, too. At least the whites on my variant are natural... my specimen really is a little brighter than yours, now that I look at it.

Glad you like it, though, despite that the outfit was referenced off another specimen.

she has a lot of details, she is pretty too, and i totally mean when u say it disappears in the creation border, when i do stuff that are long like dresses or tails or backgrounds theres always a limit bc of the creation border, but when its like that and it stays incomplete i just put my creating to the side when im finished, i move her to the side of the screen so that the screen cuts the dress so theres a bit that we dont see.. like for ex,u did a lot of dolls and they cant all fit in the screen so parts of them are outside the screen|hidden and are not showing..  if u know what i mean, i hope i explained it well, but u can see it and understand better what i mean if u go see my entry for this challenge, i placed her more to the side..

Wow, thanks a lot for your kind words! And yes, the creation border is a bit of an obstacle sometimes... I do know what you mean with the doll's placement to hide that incomplete part, but I just didn't feel like cutting off that part of the dress, even though I considered it. I like seeing the dress whole for some reason... :'D
